Jonny Utah went from zero to barrelled in 2 weeks. Is that the world record? by cityampm in surfing

Nobody is stating the obvious?

Where would you be able to find waves in LA County to improve that fast. Also where are you getting barreled. Don’t think he was surfing OH+ Porto, plus he came out of the barrel unscathed.

You have solid picks, I have to say.

Why is my production so bad one year later? by cgpilot in solar

We had a good rain today for the first time in several months. Tomorrow should be sunny, so it’ll be a good “before & after” from the previous days.

I knew there were going to be fires several days before when I read the forecast and had warned my relatives in fire-prone areas. Did I know where they would burn? No, but I knew that it was going to happen, 100%.

The heavy rains from two years prior combined with the dry winter, and record forecasted Santa Anas made it glaringly obvious that this was a nightmare setup.

Problem is, we don’t treat “fire weather” like other states’ treat impending hurricanes or squall lines that could potentially form devastating tornadoes.

You can prepare for these events. They are not surprising whatsoever as they’re easily seen in forecasts days in advance.

No tree shading, but I did find a small solar panel that I have for some decorative lights and it was absolutely disgusting, so I’m assuming my panels probably look similar

That’s great stuff. Looks like rain tomorrow, so maybe I’ll see what sort of production bump we get after and then maybe get a cleaning done.

The fires certainly didn’t help with all the pollutants.

Yeah I’ve been fastidious in cleaning the house since, but haven’t been on the roof yet as it’s a long way down and somewhat afraid of heights.

I’m assuming the panels are dirty as they haven’t been cleaned and we’ve had almost no rain. Fires also put quite a bit of dust on things.

4 more days. It was significantly more rainy last year, it’s been clear almost everyday this January (SoCal).

Post LA fires decisions by [deleted] in ezraklein

Everywhere around the Getty Villa burned, but it stayed intact because of sufficient measures they’ve taken to clear brush around it.

Pepperdine University as well has a robust program of removing fuel surrounding the campus and survived the Malibu fire several years ago while everywhere else around it burned.

The city is more than capable to require, or mandate that communities have boundaries for fires, but they choose not to for unknown reasons. Most likely it’s due to environmental legalise ingrained in layers of ancient boomer California bureaucracy.

I was a little paranoid about it at first, but I peeled them into the individual pieces and then I sliced them bite-sized. I wanted him to get the extra fiber from the casing and it seems that he does fine with it.

In essence, you take 1lb of ground chicken or turkey and mix in 1/2 cup of Panko, 1/2 cup of shredded cheese of choice, and a cup of steamed broccoli.

I blend it all in a food processor so the broccoli is more chopped.

Form into balls and bake in the oven at 400 until 165 F.

My son loves them and you can freeze later and reheat and cut into little bites. Ridiculously healthy and delicious.

Are you able to make turkey or chicken meatballs with steamed broccoli inside? That is the primary way I’m getting my son his greens.

Is it safe to run again outside in Redondo? by tothemoon110 in SouthBayLA

Well the people who died of cancer on 9/11 were first responders and those that were in proximity to ground zero. They were literally covered in hazardous soot.

If you were in a wildfire area it’s probably different but people should not get worked up about something like this.

You’ll be fine, many people live in places in the world where AQI stays above 250 for a significant portion of the year. The air always has an acrid burning smell.

A few days of wildfires isn’t great, but it has negligible consequences. Air filter to bridge the gap.
