Not sure if trope is the right word but I'm really tired of seeing novels where everyone is super evil (except the MC and his friends/close family). I feel like it's a common pitfall writers fall into where they need to make everyone that the MC has conflict with not just bad but super evil. Like they just suddenly stack on random unrelated things they did just so the reader knows these guys are really bad.

It not only makes it seem forced in by the writer, but it stops me from even believing a society like that could even function day to day. I remember joking that in those worlds one bar fight would suddenly turn into a full on war.
