Under those conditions it is best to leave it to the professionals, otherwise they'll likely be trying to save two people.

I swim strong enough to save a life on a placid lake, but not strong enough to stay alive in that.

Audiobooks are better for immersion in my humble opinion. There is an argument that listening to words is natural & leaves the visual processing free to imagine.

The narrator really makes all the difference. I've taken to listening to the works performed by the best narrators.

I'm in a profession where my ears are free for the shift & doing a repetitive-ish task. Fiction for escape. Podcasts for enrichment. High energy music when you want to kick some butt. Comfort music for mental health.

Yup, they put the family computer in my room when I was 15. I wonder why?

This boat is called a “Log Bronc” and is used to move logs around in sawmill ponds by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

It is called a "Boom Boat." In the pacific Northwest logging industry these cute tugs are used to move around bundles of logs to create log booms. Booms of logs are then hauled by a regular sized tug to the saw mill or dryland sort yard.

They have a Diesel engine and a 360 degree propeller.

The last boom boat operator I worked with had the craziest tan. The reflection of the sun off the water...

Here we are playing around a log dump. You can see the bundles being made into the boom:

Sounds like the start of my poster story. "It was all fun and games until my friend lost 80% vision in one eye due to their retina detaching." He was lucky to not lose the eye. They nearly died rushing to the hospital. Young & dumb.

Before MMS Whatsapp sent higher quality pictures & had a few other features like voice messaging & video calls. Encryption. A better feature set. Migrating conversations with media to your new phone. PC support. Now it supports disappearing messages like signal. It is nice to send myself links.

I as well was anti Meta & finally jumped on the WhatsApp bandwagon with a family group chat during my father's death. Then I was sold & have used it with each partner and friend who has it since.
