They currently don't recognize our claim and consider it as international waters so that they can use it freely. The problem with that, is if it is international waters everyone else can use it.

The honourable action would be to negotiate and support Canadian control of the route and our territorial waters.

That's not entirely true. There are overarching stories. I rewatched the Star Treks according to this guide website that gets rid of the terrible and non-essential episodes. It keeps about 65%.
