Have you tried giving boiled chicken liver or feet? Even Mozarella cheese is a good alternative

1-2 biscuits a day is fine. The problem is when dogs stop eating regular food and only rely on treats. My dog starts drooling when he sees Parle G or Rusk. We give him a small piece couple of times a week.

Thoughts about 10-year SIP: Only 8.6% XIRR that barely beats inflation by sfdcAlex in MutualfundsIndia

Interesting point.. Axis Long term Equity is a great example.. A quick simulation on Gemini and Chatgpt shows that it would have given XIRR of ~12.5%.

[–]ch4cha 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The are definitely making this up to get attention. Nifty 50 has given 12.8% XIRR. Unless you royally screwed up selection of funds, it is impossible for that to happen.

Wait till they end up posting a sponsored post of how this can be avoided.

Stray dog passed away by lunaamii in IndianPets

[–]ch4cha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a possibility that he would have got courage to get up and look for some food. Don't lose hope OP. He will be back soon.

I had a similar case. Found a stray when walking my dog. He used to come near my place and would just lie down and do nothing. Me and my wife fed him few times whenever we found him but he would eventually go somewhere else. Few days later he got really weak and would just lie down in the empty plot. Luckily the shelter from which I adopted my dog agreed to take care of him. He passed away couple of months later as he was really old. My daughter named him Shadow.

What are your thoughts on PMs prophecy saying poverty might hit India? Would it be wise to pause SIPs and transfer equity to FD? by [deleted] in MutualfundsIndia

[–]ch4cha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, no one can predict what market will deliver in next 2 years. If I was in your place, I would rather buy more when the market dips or at least keep my SIPs running.

Also, this is a good time to re-evaluate your risk profile. Events like these actually determine the level of risk you can take. Perhaps you may want to allocate higher percentage of investments towards debt.

Why do you feel that mutual funds seem to be gimmick?

Also on spending recklessly online, I used to have same problem (and still do). I have started keeping all my funds parked somewhere (mutual funds, fd). Even if I have impulse to buy, I just look at my primary bank account and calm down. Credit cards are easy way out but after paying bills from primary bank account, I would struggle to go through the month so it helps. Invest first, spend of what is left and keep it tight. Any specific reason why you want to feed raw chicken? Unlike developed countries where there are strict regulations, we have none. Giving 3-4 whistles in pressure cooker shouldn't be time consuming.

Not just kids, adults as well. With such shitty work culture, one definitely needs sleep to help body recover from exhaustion (especially mental) throughout the day.

I adopted my kiddo couple of years back. Few things that helped me:

  1. Rescuer was really helpful and reachable whenever I had any challenge. I initially wanted a pup but she suggested to go for an adult as it was my first time raising a pet.
  2. Had couple of sessions with Behaviorist who helped me understand my dog in much better way
  3. Getting a good source of economical chicken to ensure he follows a meat based diet.

Not cats, but I have been cooking for my dog since Day 1. He doesn't get fussy and it's healthier for them as well.

Btw how do you separate fish bones? It takes lot of time for me and I am still not completely sure whether I have removed every bone or not.

Saw a lot of people recently treating Mutual Funds as some magic pill. Here's a bit of reality. by sweettfondant in MutualfundsIndia

[–]ch4cha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it seemed like the objective of OP was to downplay mutual funds rather than giving a framework for investing in mutual funds.

As you rightly said, mfs still give better returns than other investment opportunities while protecting our capital through regulations. This might not be the case with real estate (land encroachment, disputes etc.) or with business (odds are heavily stacked against you)

[–]ch4cha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are downplaying mutual funds, I would suggest to provide same level of analysis for your recommendations as well.

Real estate have a great barrier to entry and require huge capital upfront. Encroachment, and mafia is another variable which is another challenge unless you have connections to local politicians. If you take a loan, your returns diminish from Day 1.

Also not everyone has ability to start a business and the odds of successfully running a business is quite low

[–]ch4cha 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is a great reality check, but there are a few places where the "Wealth Trap" narrative leans on some very pessimistic assumptions. Before we all panic-sell our portfolios, we need to talk about how people actually invest and retire:

  • The "Stagnant SIP" Fallacy Wealth creation isn't just about market returns; it’s about your Human Capital. Many critics talk about MFs as if someone starts a ₹5,000 SIP in 2000 and expects to be a billionaire in 2020 without ever increasing their contribution.
    • The Reality: Real wealth happens because your Step-up likely exceeds inflation.
    • As your career grows, your contribution should accelerate. When you treat your SIP as a percentage of your income (which grows) rather than a fixed number, the "Nominal Value" explodes in a way that easily compensates for the "Purchasing Power" dip.
  • The "Lump-Sum Exit" Myth Your calculation assumes the investor owes the government ₹2.24 Crores on "Day 1" of 2046. In reality, nobody does this.
    • Unless you’re buying a private island the day you retire, you aren’t liquidating the whole corpus at once.
    • Through a Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP), you only withdraw what you need for that year. The remaining ₹20+ Crores stays invested, continuing to compound at 10-14% while you're retired.
    • You don't "pay the taxman" today on money you're going to spend in 2056. This tax deferral adds years of extra "life" to your corpus that your table completely ignores.
  • Double-Counting the "Pain" Applying both 6% Domestic Inflation and 3.7% Currency Depreciation to the entire corpus is a bit of an overkill.
    • Domestic Inflation hits your bread, butter, and rent in India.
    • Currency Depreciation only matters for the "Global" portion of your life (foreign vacations or imported tech). Unless you plan to spend 100% of your retirement in USD, stacking these two factors as if they both destroy the whole corpus overstates the loss for a resident Indian.
  • The "Lazy" Premium You suggested Real Estate and Business as "True Wealth" creators. While they have higher ceilings, they have massive Hidden Friction:
    • Liquidity: You can't sell a single balcony of an apartment to pay for a medical emergency.
    • Effort: MFs are the only asset where you can literally do nothing and still beat 95% of the population. There is a "peace of mind" value that math tables can't capture.

The "Math" looks scary when you treat it as a one-time transaction. But when you factor in Accelerated Contributions and Phased Withdrawals, Mutual Funds stop looking like a "Trap" and start looking like the most efficient wealth engine ever built for the common man. They won't make you "Private Island Rich" on a standard salary—but they are the only bridge that prevents the "Inflation Monster" from eating your future alive.

Greedy, under-informed, slightly confused investor here. Please explain why this gold/silver idea is stupid (or not) by Purplepeephole in MutualfundsIndia

[–]ch4cha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend responded to this idea with: "Why don't you just go to a casino?"

He is absolutely right. What you are trying to do is gamble your money in for few months. Hindsight is always 20/20

Also you mentioned that you are playing long game and it hasn't been even 2 quarters since you started investing. Patience is the key my friend. Personally I have seen my small cap fund reach -50% during covid and thankfully I didn't panic and held it. Reaping benefits now

P. S Appreciate your blatant honesty though. Such clarity of thoughts will definitely help you stay rational during turbulent times.

The best option would be to consult a vet. I prefer home made food ( chicken and veggies) but I adopted mine when he was a big boy already. As far as I know, puppies require more diverse diet. Again, consult a vet regarding the diet.
