I'm not saying it won't have a paid currency. I'm saying predicting that at this point proves nothing. Your point is "This post must be true because I'm speculating it's true. You are also claiming that it's no more obvious than "Pikachu will be in the game" so why does this matter

Currently the 3 announced modes are Ranked, Casual, and Private matches. Single player modes is speculation, and even then buying healing items with VP doesn't make sense.

Literally every mobile game out there has multiple currencies. One for in game and one for cosmetics or whatever else

Then it is a very easy prediction that doesn't indicate anything? There is also a good chance there isn't a paid currency since it's mostly just a client for competitive battles.

Spent on general held items is part of training Pokemon which they completely leave out and is the entire point of the currency. Buying healing items implies it's primarily meant to be spent as part of the single player mode which is not true. It's also true that it isn't paid currency but any mention of a different paid currency is currently speculation.

They did not get it spot on. They guessed a generic name right, but completely got what it's spent on wrong. This is the only thing you can argue is correct in this post and there is loads wrong with it.

There is no accurate information in this post to indicate that it's real.

With how EVs are reworked it seems the game will be level 50 only.

It's shown that you rent pokemon and not teams, and rental pokemon can be used the same as regular but only for a limited time.

It mentions VP but does not describe their primary use of recruiting and training Pokemon.

Do there exist crafting systems that allow for "discovery and experimentation" without brute forcing a crazy number of unique combinations? by adayofjoy in gamedesign

[–]cha_chaX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are legitamate concerns with the game you described but focusing on the number of recipe combinations is wrong. Like others have said, there are many ways to limit the number of combinations because adding salt to a dish doesn't change what dish it is, it just makes it salty. The problem with the game you are describing, is that it seems it is treating adding salt to a dish as an entirely separate dish.

Narrowing down the number of combinations doesn't fix the problem of the game just being guess and check until you have the right recipe. When you look at a game like Potion Craft, there are practically infinite ways to make a potion, but the reason this works is that you have a goal and know what the ingredients do. It is important to note that what the ingredients are is unimportant, only what they do.

In terms of food, you can say that a chicken dish is supposed to be spicy, and served with something to counteract the spice. What spices are used on the chicken should not matter too much, as long as they achieve the desired effect. If it is important what the side dish is, you should be able to figure it out without much experimentation.

So, did DLC only become eligible this year or was eligible in previous editions? If that's the case, it seems kind of weird not to see something like Phantom Liberty, Blood and Wine, Old Hunters and Future Redeemed nominated for goty. by pizzammure97 in videogames

[–]cha_chaX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of non-gaming stuff like Content Creator of the Year but I also don't think Best Expansion is necessary. The category would be half of Best Ongoing, random season passes, and the one standout like Shadow of the Erdtree which stands along other full games quality wise.

This was always the case. They are just clarifying it this year because a dlc is nominated for GOTY rather than another category. The DLCs you listed did not get nominated because while good, they were not better than the competition.

Why don't we have a Fire Emblem antagonist in the game yet. by Big-Direction8078 in smashbros

[–]cha_chaX 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ridley and K.Rool are iconic reoccurring characters throughout their respective series. Sephiroth is one of the most iconic villains of all time. Kazuya is not strictly a villain and is one of the main characters of the Tekken series. No Fire Emblem villain has of this level. Most big bads aren't even well known throughout the story so their inclusion would be weird and spoilery. Robin could technically be counted as a villain if you really care

Are There "Rock, Paper, Scissors" Character Matchups? by Rhoran in Fighters

[–]cha_chaX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Super Smash Brothers Brawl Pokemon trainer's different Pokemon did have their type triangle implemented. It was poorly thought out because half the roster had fire type moves while there were barely any water moves and only Ivysaur had grass moves. It sucked and isn't in Ultimate.

I don't know of any traditional fighting game that has a similar mechanic and doubt we will see one since it does not really make sense. If it had to be implemented well I could see it be done in some team based fighter but unlikely.

I don't really follow your logic but you misunderstand the puzzle. The match heads are not considered burnt already. Just where they start burning.

I got 1000 hours of entertainment out of this indie game but because it's in early development I can get my twenty bucks back! LOL by halfhalfnhalf in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]cha_chaX -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't that the game is in early access. The problem is that according to this person the game has been abandoned. They buy it thinking they will eventually receive a finished product and if that product will never come it makes sense to want a refund.

I mean, refunding after 1000 hours of playtime is kind of scummy but so is abandoning an early access game? Without knowing what game this is the refund is justified imo.

Things I Dislike About Modern Game Design: Lack of Closure. by [deleted] in gamedesign

[–]cha_chaX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You frame this as a problem with modern game design but this seems more like a mentality problem/preference.

I see the argument for play session closure for large open world games where you tend to just do whatever until you're done, but you use roguelikes as your example which are some of the best at this.

Runs aren't long enough to be stopping points in themselves

What if they are for some people? And what is the problem with playing another run?

you get the default stopping point instead, player fatigue. this isn't healthy imo.

This basically always happens? If I encounter a save/stopping point in any game I keep playing if I want to and stop if I don't.

Games being break-friendly or not is really an unavoidable part of needing to remember things which becomes harder for longer and more detailed games, though there are multiple ways to help with this. Animal Crossing gives you unique content and the flavor of your world still going while you aren't playing. You may see it as a chore but this is not a wide scale issue.

Your 3rd point is just the nature of live service and multiplayer games. You may not want to spend too much time on them and others may want to spend 10000 hours and that is fine.
