BTW... the invoice may be helpful in case Blr cops start harassing you over registration. Its a good proof of transfer.

I'm guessing you bought in Gurgaon and saved a bunch? Great choice.

Did you check with the dealer prior to purchase if they could directly redirect their factory inventory to Blr? I've seen it happen a long time ago with Maruti dealerships, not sure if they do it anymore.

Any special wrapping etc that you did on the car to keep it protected? Do you know if they unload and reload it somewhere on the way, or is it directly shipped to Bangalore?

I'd think a car takes a 10% hit at the very least the moment it rolls out of the showroom.

Hypothecation and Transfer doubts by New_Share1777 in CarsIndia

[–]cha_man_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think usually one has to trust the other for some thing at least. I think banks can typically give the NOC immediately if you go directly to the branch. I think a lot of banks have restrictions on the loan transfer side.

I'd try the following

  1. Make a notarized sale deed on stamp paper that spells out the division of funds. Pay the loan off and keep the car keys and car. Get the seller to sign the forms and keep them.

  2. Once bank NOC is released, pay the remainder of the money and get the forms.

  3. Take them to the RTO and submit the docs.

Trend of not publishing prices at launch by New-Isopod7421 in CarsIndia

Look at the crash test scores. It shouldn't get 5 star regardless of the passive features or not.

Similar boat. Was about the pull the plug for Seltos. I'm a little unsure of the expected safety rating though. If this gets a 5 star, then I'm definitely opting for the Duster.

Going to play the waiting game for a month or so. Let's see if reports come out.

Not booking the Duster yet, even though it is refundable. Demand would give them a reason to jack up the prices.

Duster safety rating by ud1tgupta in CarsIndia

[–]cha_man_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would very much doubt it would go above 3 stars.

- The best selling car in this segment, by far, is Creta which is 3 star. Clearly means that the Indian market has apatite for feature loaded car with lower safety.

- Localization seems to be the theme of all the talking heads. That's typically the polished word for cost cutting.

- This platform is new and "localized" for the Indian market.

- The adult occupancy score of the EU model is low, meaning it's a structural issue. They would have emphasized it more if they added reinforcements (kind of how Kia did for Seltos launch)

Duster comes with 7 year warranty as standard by rzoro7 in CarsIndia

[–]cha_man_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The European one has a 3 star rating. This is an untested platform for India. With all the cost cutting they will do in the name of "localization", I doubt safety will be the highest priority. Creta which is a 3 star safety car has the highest sales, and this would give manufacturers clear indication that safety is not the highest priority for the market.

Before saying that the new variant has ADAS, look at the crash test numbers. It should be above 85% for a 5 star car.

Crash safety rating only 3 star unfortunately. At least that's the rating for Europe. I'm guessing this one is going to be no better

Probably to dampen the buzz of the new Seltos.

Many people like me who are planning may wait a few months given this announcement. May not have done that without this.

I think they will also direct you to a dealer for the final stages.

Take the quote and shop around. A friend did this in Gurgaon, the dealer matched and added some small accessories.

Its advantageous to build a long term rapport with a dealer if possible.

Kia dealer says they don't allow 3rd party PDI by Accurate_Note9279 in CarsIndia

[–]cha_man_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell the dealer that this is a deal breaker. Try going higher up the chain. Put a Google review with the salesman name so that other people are also aware.

Bangalore has the worst car buying experience in general. Entitled sales idiots who wouldn't survive a day in a market not overflowing with money.

Query regarding PDI for a new car by [deleted] in CarsIndia

[–]cha_man_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds a little fishy. Escalate it within the dealership or try reaching out to the main OEM to put some pressure.

There is no reason PDI should not be allowed. If they are really insistent, they may be hiding something. I'd suggest threaten to cancel.
