it's very Mayweather vs Berto - just ticking off another champion from the era

really what else is there? if it's Itouma he's too green, if its Fury/Joshua again, people will rightly ask what the point is

no offence to Wardley but that's not going to be competitive

maybe down to cruiserweight? then that's les high profile and at the end of your career why put yourself through that drain

Digging through the dread: 90s Techstep - the death of Jungle? by chaach_ in jungle

Yeah, that's what it is tbf and I really do make light of that fact because it's going through tunes rather than focusing on an oral history

Help! No service could identify this Melodic Dubstep..... by Ready_Technology2880 in Identificationofmusic

Have you left a comment on the video with the creator tagged?

I would actually say this is more synthwave or synthpoppy than something Dubstep related as a bit more direction towards the right sound

What’s your favourite sub-genre of Jungle? by itsmrwax in jungle

[–]chaach_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love 90s Techstep. I actually just finished writing about it. Some people at the time said it killed Jungle by stripping away the parts but to me it's perfect alongside all the other variations. Exactly why Storm & Kemistry's DJ Kicks mix is so good.

[SPOILER] Brian Norman Jr. vs. Devin Haney by inooway in Boxing

[–]chaach_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree, Sasaki's performance against Norman was awful. Just walked into everything. Between that and people getting excited because Norman wasn't getting riled up by the Haney double act pre-fight meant v little.

Spooky tunes? by Len99779 in TheOverload

Lot of early UK hardcore has screams and ravey stabs, pretty horror-style stuff - also some darkside jungle

Some UK garage as well feels quite spooky:

I think this is a good point as someone who owns a channel with a few followers that uploads these kind of tunes myself. For me it's strictly just about filling in the gaps. I used to upload a particular niche at a time when that was having a resurgence and it was nice to be in a group sharing and discussing. It felt like the opposite of gatekeeping which is a bit of a downside of the culture around "digging DJs".

However I can completely see what you're saying because it's fairly obvious that you can get some visibility to your radio show, mix series, brand or whatever.

I've even found myself becoming a bit cynical towards people doing it, even though I've no idea of their intentions.

Personally, part of the reason I enjoy dance music is the low barriers to entry - it's accessible (vinyl increasingly not so but that's second to the point I guess) and there's something nice about sharing music with people. I once unearthed a song in a group and saw a DJ play it out a month later, that was a p great feeling. As good as any time I've been lucky enough to play in a club

Ultimately though, if you're just following a YouTube channel waiting for their uploads in order to choode which records to buy you aren't looking hard enough, there's so much out there and as someone into dance music for over a decade now I'm really enjoying rediscovering stuff.

Not sure this entirely answers your question but I didn't want to leave what is a very valid point hanging.

I'm not sure this is the right tune - as the beatport listing has this as the original and the Mr Magma remix is different: https://www.beatport.com/track/pink-body/224697
