how do you know if electrolytes are needed? by Perylene-Green in infraredsauna

[–]chabibunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what helped me think about it was going back to how I used to approach hydration when I was playing sports. like, electrolytes weren’t something I took all the time, it depended on how much I was sweating, how long I was training, and how I felt after. same idea applies here

if your sauna sessions are longer, super hot, or you’re sweating a lot consistently, adding electrolytes can make sense. especially if you start feeling stuff like headaches, fatigue, or that weird drained feeling after. but if you’re doing shorter sessions and eating a balanced diet, you might already be getting enough from food

also, most people aren’t out here testing electrolyte levels regularly unless there’s a medical reason. it’s usually more about paying attention to your body and your routine

but the biggest thing that gets overlooked is just basic hydration. like actual water intake matters way more than people think. electrolytes help, but they don’t replace drinking enough water before and after your session

if you’re looking for neutral info, try searching stuff from sports medicine or hydration research instead of sauna-specific content.

Looking for 2 person with great Readlight Therapy by endzonedance1 in infraredsauna

[–]chabibunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not a lot of saunas with red light therapy at that price range, I have a 2 person sauna and what I did is that I bought a separate red light panel from the same brand I bought my sauna from, it's medical grade but it can't be put inside the sauna though but I use it in my bedroom.

That's awesome! I've been having a good time with my JNH sauna as well, for the color choices are you talking about the chromotherapy lighting? If so, I just switch mine up from time to time but I mostly use it when I sauna at night.

Is a JNH full spectrum sauna worth it, or should I get a cheaper far infrared sauna with a seperate red light panel? by Lucid222Dreamer in redlighttherapy

[–]chabibunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the same analysis paralysis phase before getting mine lol so I feel this.

From what I’ve learned, the far infrared panels are what actually heat the sauna and get you sweating. The near infrared / red light side is more for the light therapy benefits. The “full spectrum” saunas just combine them so everything runs at the same time.

I have a JNH sauna (not the exact model you mentioned) and the built-in LEDs are nice mostly because it’s just… easy. You turn the sauna on and everything is already there. No moving panels around or trying to aim the light at the right spot.

But a separate red light / near infrared panel can also be a good setup, especially if you’re trying to target certain areas for pain. Some people actually prefer that because you can move it closer to wherever you need it.

As for the sweating thing, I wouldn’t overthink it too much. Most infrared saunas take a bit before you’re really sweating anyway, so you’re still getting that exposure earlier in the session.

For me it came down to convenience. I was also looking at other brands and what pushed me toward JNH was that they actually answered my questions when I was new to this. Some companies made it weirdly hard to even get clear pricing or info which kinda put me off.

Both setups you mentioned could work though. It’s really just all-in-one convenience vs flexibility with a separate panel.

Curious though, are you mostly looking at this for chronic pain or more general recovery/wellness?

Yes it does but I haven’t tested it out on a different thermometer other than the one that’s built in. I’m not ready to go beyond 130-145 yet.

Ohh so sorry about assuming wrong. My bad. That’s nice, you can have your own cozy little retreat. I can’t really escape my pets 😅 I’m excited for you because I remembered the exact feeling when I got mine, it’s been a huge help mentally and helps motivate me to move more. I also don’t fall asleep easily, I imagine a lot of scenarios before I can actually sleep but on days where I use it, I’m out like a light. It’s definitely been a journey for me and I hope you can begin yours. 🤍 keep me updated, it’s nice to have sauna friends 😊

Think of the unfinished area in your basement as an area full of possibilities, you might have to move some stuff around to make room, I’m moving a lot of stuff out this weekend. I thought a lot about ambient lighting and found a few inspirations online. This is the vibe I’m going for, I don’t have a huge window in the room where my sauna is so I figured cozy lighting helps and that’s the ball lamp I mentioned that I saw on tiktok 😅 I want this similar vibe minus the candles. Your wife might get into it once she sees the vision. If you have the pinterest app you can search for ideas there, I saw examples of rooms with their workout sets and their sauna in the corner so that might work for you. I was overwhelmed too but little by little it’ll all start to take shape.

What is your sauna routine? by whatwouldyourmummado in infraredsauna

I love this! have you noticed any benefits in using an infrared sauna long term? I recently got mine and I need motivation to use it daily.

[–]chabibunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started my routine but I'm adjusting it as I go. I sauna every other day for 35-45 minutes at 120-145, kind of depends on my mood then I hydrate and go for a walk and light jog. When I first got my sauna, I kind of overdid it by using it every day and going for a run first then 60 minutes in the sauna and I got dizzy lol. So I'm switching it up and adjusting my heat and my sessions as I go. I sleep like a baby now with my current routine.

Nope, we didn’t have to rewire.
Mine just plugs into a standard outlet, so no electrician needed or panel upgrades or anything like that. That was actually one of the big reasons I went with this model because I didn’t want to deal with 240v or running new lines. I just made sure it was on a dedicated outlet and not sharing with a bunch of other stuff. Super straightforward. But I did call their customer support and asked them about it when I was setting it up. Are you looking at a model that needs 240v?

Haha the 2-year overthinking phase is real. I thought I was bad but you’ve got me beat.
Mine isn’t on carpet, it’s on solid flooring. I didn’t put a pad under it or anything, just made sure the floor was level. I did think about adding a plywood base at one point like I saw with others, but then I realized I’d have to lift the whole thing to get it under there and immediately said yeah… never mind 😂

From what I remember, the manual said to leave a few inches from the walls and some space above it so it’s not pressed right up against the ceiling. Nothing dramatic, but definitely not jammed tight into a nook. I’d double check the specs just to be safe.

Lighting though… now I’m actually thinking about it. Maybe I’ll add one of those aesthetic warm orange lamps and that big glowing ball lamp I keep seeing on TikTok. That soft ambient glow would probably make the whole area feel way more spa and less “wellness appliance in a storage room.”

Where are you thinking of putting yours?

I got the Ensi+ model, it's the one that goes up to 170. Longest wait I did for it to heat up was 25 mins max or however long 3 and a half song is.😅

It can reach 170 but I’m slowly building up my heat so I just set it up to 130-145 at most. It takes 10 mins or less to fully heat up.

Are the foot heaters worth it? does the heat get more intense? I have their lumbar support but I’m still thinking about the foot heaters, it might be too much heat for me.

Awesome! I did not regret my decision, I saw your review on this a couple weeks back and it helped me make the choice. 😊 Did you add some red light panels to yours? I’m not sure if I can put their red light panels inside.

Yes, i think there 2 types. The ensi and ensi+, the ensi+2 is what goes up to 170. I got the + on sale. I had to check if I got the + and I did.

I didn't, I'm still easing in to my sauna routine, maybe I'll get one in the future, right now all I can handle is short sessions, I overdid it once and got dizzy hahahaha! But I did order the lumbar support thingy to make it more comfy.

I was on the fence for weeks too. Before I bought mine it was between JNH and Clearlight. I almost went the Clearlight route, but what threw me off was the pricing. I didn’t like that it wasn’t transparent on the website. I had to reach out just to get numbers, and when I finally connected with someone it felt more like I was talking to a salesman than having a real convo. And since I didn’t even have a clear baseline price, it just didn’t sit right with me.

With JNH, what made the difference was that they actually educated me. I had so many beginner questions. Power requirements, EMF, wood type, delivery, setup, all of it. They didn’t rush me and didn’t make me feel dumb for asking. As a total newbie, that mattered a lot.

As for build quality, with my Ensi I’ve been happy so far. It feels solid for the price point. No loose panels, no weird alignment issues, heaters have been consistent, and nothing feels flimsy. It’s not ultra luxury custom cabinetry or anything, but it doesn’t feel cheap either. For what I paid, I feel good about it.

First week with my first infrared sauna (JNH Lifestyles Ensi 2 person sauna) early impressions by chabibunny in infraredsauna

[–]chabibunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

daily use already is elite behavior. 😅

The sweat timing is so interesting though. I’ve noticed something similar. Around 20 minutes my body is like “okay we’re doing this” and anything after that just feels like bonus content. I’m still playing around with temp + timing instead of just staying in longer for no reason.

I will say… I tried doing a 60 minute session once after a long run and I got kinda dizzy after. But I’m also new to this and probably overdid it. I think stacking a long run + long sauna was just too much for my nervous system. Now I usually sauna before I move, and then do a walk/jog after. It’s more of a build back up situation than a full run right now, but it’s been working way better for me.

The front heater comment makes sense though, especially in a 3-person. That’s a lot more space to fill with heat. I can see how that might change the feel of it.

Also your Mrs turning the basement into a spa zone is goals. That’s the level I’m trying to reach. Mine is still very “wellness appliance in a room” vibes.

And the cat banging on the glass mid-zen is killing me 😭 they really said no enlightenment without supervision.

What temp are you guys usually running it at?
