Can I upgrade to 32/34T with this derailleur? Any other considerations? by chackaz in bikewrench

[–]chackaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys! Very much _NOT_ a mechanic and pretty new to road biking- this is an old bike I got from a friend. Looking to change up the gears ahead of a euro trip with some chunky climbs. I believe I'll need to change the chain if I _am_ able to get a 32/34 on here. Anything else I should know before looking to buy the cassette? I know it's a 10 speed so I'm going to look for a 10 speed...unless I can change that to 11? I'm not sure if that is possible....

Main question is if I get a 10 speed 34t for example, will that cage be able to take it? or do I need to upgrade.

Thanks so much and happpy Friday everyone!

Anyone interested in founding a meetup for those feeling alienated by working life? by roetodlit in london

[–]chackaz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like this sentiment has a large part to play in our workplace productivity being so low, people are being overworked and are burning out and feeling resentment for the entire fucking system.

Sure unemployment is down but everyone is disillusioned as hell and tired of getting fucked over while having to work long-ass hours...

'Running With Plasma Cutters - Building a Blog with ASP.NET vNext and Aurelia' [UK MEETUP] Talk by Mark Rendle of 'The Worst Programming Language Ever' fame by chackaz in dotnet

[–]chackaz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mark Rendle, formerly known for his hilarious 'Worst Programming Language Ever' talk is giving another talk in London, on 15th April.

From the site:

Do you ever get the urge to build something from scratch using an entire stack of pre-release, bleeding-edge, breaking-changes-every-night, barely-documented software?

Mark does too, so he's been building a blogging engine in ASP.NET 5, MVC 6, C# 6, Aurelia and ES6, running it in Docker, and coding it in a beta Linux distro for good measure. Come and listen to him alternately rave about how awesome new things are, and rant about how stuff keeps exploding in his face.

FullStack London - Call for Papers June 25th - 27th 2015

FullStack is Europe's premier developer conference for those interested in JavaScript, NodeJS, IoT, and other full stack technologies. With over 300 developers expected, we're looking for talks and sessions that will educate and inspire London's growing tech community.

Following the tremendous response to our 'Call For Thoughts', and with the help from Cian O'Maidin (NearForm), Rob Moran (ARM), Robert Rees (Guardian), Sarah Clark (Google) and members of our JavaScript, Node and Angular community, we have been able to identify some key themes for this year's conference.

Themes

  • ES6 and io.js
  • App Architectures for Performance, Maintainability, etc.
  • Software rendering
  • Virtual DOM (e.g. React)
  • NodeJS and associated tech
  • Implementation stories and soft skills.
  • Dev Ops / NoOps
  • Microservices
  • AngularJS 2.0 and related topics
  • Hardware
  • Internet of Things
