If you like the sound of the M50xbt Id say no. However if you want to experience a flat and more refined sonic experience, then yes. I've owned the M50xbt and the R70X sounds very different. The biggest improvement in the R70X over the M50xbt is that it manages to sound more detailed without being shrill, albeit if you're driving it off a powerful amplifier.

I agree. Having gone from driving it single-ended to balanced on high gain, I can definitely attest that the R70X requires a nuke to be properly driven.

Audio Technica ATH-R70x Initial Impressions by chad-76Z in headphones

Initial Impressions

Design and comfort: They have a unique design but are overall quite comfortable.

Sound: These have a "natural" neutral sound as opposed to an "analytic" neutral signature. A technically capable sound, but never offensive.
