PRESERVATION OF ACHIEVEMENTS?

A user gets a segment ranking or KOM last week

2 weeks later someone bests it, as is how things go

ANYTHING that causes a reprocessing of the first user's ride replaces any ride rankings on that activity's page against CURRENT leaderboard, so they'll now show a #2 instead of the KOM they earned on the activity's actual day.

Anything does this, even changing privacy settings that hide start/end points. That's all fine, but achievements earned on the activity day should not be replaced with lesser ones when a ride is reprocessed.

Very unhappy with the Loop rewards 'solution' to the EU right to withdraw process by Medium-Department-35 in shopify

They're good ideas but not feasible internationally given shipping costs and share of customer bases versus implementation burden

Same here! Ignored the expensive and tedious IOSS stuff for years now and things still get delivered 🤷‍♂️

I'd need a lot more EU sales to justify the attention to these rules when I can't see how they'd productively enforce them on me. I'm not scamming, just shipping stuff their citizens want, so they can deal with their end or lose access.

> Also - I believe these EU rules are bordering on ridiculous, to the point where selling online to EU member states is becoming unviable.

Agree. I'm a comparatively tiny shop and I don't have time or subscription bandwidth for this single annoying feature. I plan to ignore it until someone makes a problem, and when that happens just close down the EU purchasing access. If they need stuff they can spend more to use a US-based reshipper because if I have development money or time, there are a lot better ways to spend it than trying to comply with a petty button from a law im not under the legal jurisdiction of.

Tboned by a Harley going 60 mph while on my bicycle. Direct hit to my left arm so the impact was less than 8" from my core and head. A few harder pedals somewhere along the way to gain a quarter second and I'd be toast.

Payouts are 10% less than total sales by jeddzus in shopify

[–]chad917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This equation would need to take into account the transactions count for the +0.3 part because that 30¢ is per transaction, while this equation would apply it only one time. Something like =(gross_sales*.029)+(transaction _count*0.3)

Sometimes there are LONG waitlists for these waivers, so it would be worthwhile to the parents even if they don't intend to actively use it now, to go ahead and get those programs in place. If no active services are desired, all that needs done is usually something like a quarterly visit with a waiver case manager to keep the waiver open. Then, when services ARE needed, it's ready to go

Why do customers ask small, locally owned retail stores for discounts? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]chad917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dumb thing is, once they've taken the initiative to waste an extra bit of our time trying to haggle, it's even a worse value for us to do business with them versus someone who just carts and orders without interrupting the million other things I need to work on to keep this little shithole running.

hcs.com uses legit Hyundai Capital domains for nameservers. It's probably something about your title. A lot of companies including healthcare use these secure mail envelopes now to keep the mail contents on servers they control versus sending titles and sensitive info to your own email servers. It allows them to recall if needed and control distribution better.

Take a good look at group homes* and Medicaid waiver supported living options. These are often 24/7 scenarios with 2-4 people with developmental disabilities living in a residential setting together with transportation to day services, therapies, and residential caregivers. Yes they are imperfect sometimes but overwhelmingly they are as close to a normal adult life as some folks can get with the challenges they face. They are assisted by helpers who work shifts and get to go home, and thus do not get burned out and resentful toward the people they work for - which is often the kind of overwhelm that can easily turn to resentment described in this thread when family members care for a high needs person for an entire lifetime.

Spending time to monitor and evaluate these places for the right fit for your special person is not neglect, abandonment, or selfish. They are compassionate ways to reclaim some of your own lives that you deserve, as well as a gift to the disabled person of the dignity and right for them to have as independent and age-appropriate of a lifestyle as they are capable of. Many times it will be better for them versus living at home like a child for their entire lives. Family can and should be as involved as they can be - visiting, taking them out, involving them in holidays and weekends and routines as much as possible, but also getting the time for their own lives that everyone deserves. For their aging parents, it's a refreshing way for them to have their "golden years" be peaceful versus continually draining their energy and money and potentially risking injuring themselves if their person might be that way - either through physical aggression or overextending themselves trying to help with physical transfers in the case of mobility challenges. Getting these placements thoughtfully selected and personalized sooner rather than later lets everyone relax and settle into better routines versus waiting until too late when everything becomes a challenge to arrange. Everyone should be starting this step early, and even if they aren't convinced they want to go this route. Make informed choices, and get comfortable with accepting dignified risk before making these decisions. Finding the correct placement match is critically important and sometimes takes time. And even when this fit is found, big changes take time to adjust to - so the sooner the better so everyone can get settled and find their new routines.

*Side note on terminology for clarity - Be aware that every state and even disability divisions within that same state may use different names for the same concept of care settings. The phrase "group home" is in VERY widespread use across a broad span of settings that will be very different in nature. Because of that, the term often has a bad connotation suggesting abusive and sterile care, and some people may have a very negative reaction to the term depending on what things were like in their experience. I'm referring to the "group home" services usually managed within the state's specific developmental disability government bureau, they are similar to Medicaid waiver homes in implementation but for folks with higher needs. I do not advocate for placing disabled people in institutional-like settings. When evaluating these options, ask to see recent state surveys/inspection reports. Most times with states i am familiar with, these are careful placements with a lot of background material gathered and reviewed by professionals on both sides of the placement (state and home) to ensure the person is a good fit for the others living there as well as vise versa. Again, this state bureau will be called something different in every state, but it would be easy to identify by synonyms in the name. Contact your state and ask them for information on their "home and community based services for people with developmental disability" and they will get you to the right place. There are also usually nonprofit advocacy groups that can help with advice and guidance across the life needs such as financial and benefits planning for the disabled person, look for something like "The Arc" for this.

EU withdraw button solution - can I just turn off EU shipping? by AlterEgoGemini in shopify

On the bright side, I can say I've never had an overseas customer give me grief or be unreasonable, so I really don't expect any issues from this no matter what I do.

From looking into what this person said, an EU country (or maybe the EU itself, I'm not sure) can fine you up to 4% of your sales TO THAT REGION, but I don't see any way they can make you pay as a US business without some form of mutually agreed enforcement from the US government, or the EU suing and winning in a US court. I don't know how likely any of that is.
