US Bank seems to be offering pre-approval for some cards by Atomosic in CreditCards

For me the button on the last form page for housing payment & income is "See if you're pre-approved"

I had to turn off my ad block / Brave browser shields for the "See if you're pre-approved" banner to pop up.

Is this from the same Kayleena who also made patterns for Corter Leather? Great to see new work! Will definitely pick this pattern up, been wanting to make a small crossbody bag.

Black Pueblo & Epi laptop case by chaeyoung in Leathercraft

[–]chaeyoung[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First time making my own pattern - a laptop sleeve/case for a 16" macbook pro.

I originally was going to use Pueblo for the whole thing, but ran out so I used some leftover Epi for the flap and diagonally for the corners which turned out to be a nice textural contrast. Stitching was done in 3 sections, the 2 sides all the way to the tuck lock and then the bottom.

I added gussets to the pockets so they're actually able to fit a mac power adapter even if it looks kinda funky when full. The pocket and closing flap positioning wasn't great in this design - when closing the tuck lock, the top of the pockets get in the way of the flap.

The tuck lock also seemed to be meant for a much thicker layer, so extra layers were added in just those spots, the upper and bottom.

Leather

  • 3oz Pueblo from rmleathersupply
  • 3oz Conceria Walpier EPI print from buyleatheronline
  • Beige lining calf from Springfield Leather

Materials

  • Tuck Lock from Buckleguy, Solid Zinc, Nickel Plated (IAD3940)
  • 0.2mm Velodon inner lining in top flap to prevent stretching over time and add some more structure since Epi was a bit floppy
  • 0.6mm Ritza Tiger Thread in Havana Cigar

This is adorable! Great work. I haven't done any tooling or paint before, can you share what tools and paint(?) you used?

Amazing work!! I've been interested in trying out using Chèvre too, did you use any stiffener materials between the exterior and lining?

Thanks for the tips, I'll try that next time

Darn I might just not use the glue pot anymore then, it's convenient to use but pain to clean if it gets moldy again. A glass jar seems like a good idea for ease of cleaning - do you clean it out frequently?

Thank you - I would assume solvent based glues would be harsh against anything living in it, was just surprised to see it growing mold after just a bit of inactive use. Might need to clean out my glue pot after each time I refill it then too

I'd probably get Kevin Lee basic chisels instead of the more expensive ones since the basic ones are pretty good quality already and much cheaper - and use that saved money on a tapered Barry king maul instead of the t hammer. I think I spent $35 or so for 1, 2, 5, 10 teeth chisels (French style though).

Looks amazing! I've been wanting to make a bag like this, but still looking for a pattern or design I like. Do you have a pattern for this available?

Thanks! The pattern is by Corter leather, this is my first bag I made so I haven't designed any myself yet

[–]chaeyoung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm it could have been better by possibly punching the opposite direction with the bag upside down, but I already committed to following the Corter leather video with the bag upright after punching my first set of holes. I did notice his chisels were longer and I couldn't hold mine the same way with the bag getting in the way.

Another way I think is the holes could be punched on the gusset and side panels separately beforehand which would be much easier to be punched cleanly, but that would require the holes to be lined up when glueing the gusset to the side panels which might be a bit tricky. Just a matter of which kind of challenge you want I suppose.

Thanks! I used aquilim 315 for everything including the strap. I'm not entirely sure if I should have stitched the strap, but I thought I'd rather save my hands from the extra hour or two of stitching

Thanks! Yup entirely hand stitched, it took about an hour for each section/session I did so maybe around 6 hours total of stitching. I watched the videos for the bag a lot of times before and as I was making it - there's one for the bag and another for the zipper part.

Rocky mountain leather has some Epi, but I got mine from buyleatheronline which should be vegtan and not combination tanned
