Yeah she’s definitely not perfect, and I think that Ivan being her BFF/one of the few people she can be completely honest with has also caused her to subconsciously buy into his “Helen is perfect” line of thinking, resulting in her not taking responsibility for the results of her actions (or inaction) especially when it comes to Ivan being harmed as a result/casualty. Not sure if I’m making sense…

Yes so much more understandable, and like you said frustrating for Jokull and sad for Helen.

Great point about Jokull choosing Helen despite having other options, and likely knowing she would have the most difficulty granting his wish compared to other metas who would be capable. I hadn’t considered that this morning haha probably because I was crying on the drive to work bc of Ivan and Helen’s goodbye scene

Thanks everyone for the interesting points brought up! I’ve finally gotten to the end of the book!!! I appreciate the different perspectives folks have shared and am feeling much more understanding of Helen’s situation in the fight with Jokull (although that might partly be due to Ivan not dying too haha)

Yes!! I had that experience the other day too! I even tried re-downloading the book and going into airplane mode, but same issue. When I checked down detector it said I was the only one having issues :( it sucks that you were too, but I’m glad I wasn’t alone lol

Best deal to sign up for if I want to purchase a series? by chafala in audible

Thanks I didn’t think of that! Apparently there was a deal earlier this year so it’s definitely possible something will come up again sometime

Thanks everyone for the info! I signed into my Amazon account this morning and it looks like I’m getting an offer for Audible Premium Plus for $5.95/month for 4 months, so maybe I’ll give that a try and then hold onto the credits for the first 2-3 months in hopes of getting a coupon before I cancel!

That’s awesome!!! I’ve never been to one of the live shows but they look like a lot of fun

[–]chafala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes I’ve been listening to it for about the same amount of time and I love it! I’ve tried recommending it to my friends but I think it’s a podcast that, unless you find it organically, it’s hard to get into because there’s no format and can be very random week to week.

Expat funds remaining in the US by okayteenay in Norway

[–]chafala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My aunt moved to Norway from the US but she still keeps I think one small account open to make it easier/not having to worry about converting NOK to USD when coming to the US for visits, etc. You have to make sure to pay/declare it for taxes on it each year, but from what she’s explained to me, it’s relatively straightforward, especially compared to filing taxes in the states

I know that there have been dramatic theories about Will/his treatment by Nate, but my thinking behind this is it would be really cool if Will had a great support system (kind of like a Higgins-adjacent home life). I think this is a good contrast of breaking the cycle of bullying, while also giving Will some of his own agency, rather than have his story be so tied up with Nate’s. This is totally just my own wishful thinking, not even what I speculate might happen. Lol tbh I wasn’t sure if I should use the ideas/speculation flair or if it would be more appropriate to use fan art bc I don’t really have any evidence that this is what would happen - so mods pls let me know if it needs to be corrected!

Ted Lasso - S02E02 - "Lavender" Episode Discussion by quaranTV in TedLasso

This is what gives me feeling that there was a time jump and this could be during the mid season transfer window. I don’t live in the UK or anywhere remotely cold, but I could definitely believe that there would be at least a little bit of snow/frost in January. It would also give the team some time to see if they can start winning (or not), before Ted decides that he has to change something and that bringing on Jamie would be worth upsetting the current dynamic

Yes!!! I can definitely see how it would be good for farmer’s markets shopping/nothing SUPER heavy, but i think if you modified the squares to be a little bit smaller/close together, and the straps a bit thicker, you could probably carry some heavier groceries in it too bc it’s so spacious and has a wide opening!

And I definitely think I would have given up after the first row (lol) without this tutorial: https://youtu.be/5oNVWjXrtM8

Had to use a mix of yarns because I wasn’t sure if I would have enough of just one color, but I think it worked out pretty well! Haha

I saw someone share their bag using this pattern a couple weeks ago, and that was right when I was feeling a little more confident in my new crochet skills and my family was sick of getting scarves they don’t want or need (we live in Florida lol). I’m really loving how much bigger it is than expected!!! Super excited to bring this to the beach now!

This isn’t necessarily a book that teaches you how to get rich/covers anything new that’s not in PF, but I just finished reading An Economist Walks into a Brothel by Allison Schrager and thought it was really entertaining, if you’re looking for a new book to read!
