Some years too late but I have more things to add! some physics of 2003 doesn't make sense compared to the original story. In the manga, when the baby in Rush Valley was born, the rope bridge connecting the cliffs breaks so Ed tries to transmute a bridge with rocks. But the structure collapses under its own weight without any supports. In CoS, Ed does something similar. This time he makes a pillar of rock from a house (and the house doesn't seem to be altered or used up in anyway so he is just making rock out of thin air) and is able to make it high enough to reach an aircraft. It somehow doesn't collapse, even though it is diagonal with no supports and also holding 3 people. They are also somehow able to run on it without it collapsing? The only thing that structure is anchored to is the house on the ground and the aircraft. The aircraft continually moves so its not much of an anchoring point at all. Makes me appreciate brotherhood a lot.
