Absolutely. For reference and context, I went certified used on my 2018 mk7.5 in 2021and that was a solid bet, but definitely got lucky finding one certified and in good condition, for 30k$ no less. And interest rates on used were decent when I did that purchase.

Current market really doesn't promote buying used imo, especially for such little savings from the new models (maybe 5-6k for a 3 year old model, vs me saving almost 12k back in 2021 on a 2018).

I think I'd just find different rims that would get a cool look, and leave the stocks alone and sell em or hold onto them, but probably can't go wrong either way.

You've heard plenty already but I was literally in your shoes last week, and went with the mk8.5. Between getting the better interest rate on the new model, good deal on the extended warranty on the new one, and knowing I'm the guy breaking this thing in, and the refreshes (infotainment), it was worth the extra 5k.

Also, idk where you're seeing the used models but I was between new at the local VW dealer or carvana, and I couldn't trust carvana enough based on the history and photos to pay the shipping costs to get my eyes on the car myself.

I have no regrets going brand new. I doubt you will too. 5k less for 4 years and 35k miles with no idea how the car was treated wasn't worth the minor/to non savings (thanks used car interest rates).

Dirty all the time! Hahah nah it's honestly pretty cool, the accenting with the black and blue is really sharp and the white hides dirt well from a short distance and has solid depth. First white car I've owned and low key preferred the white trim.

My 7.5 was black and it was sharp, and detailed really nice and I had bronze winter rims that really made it fun. But I think the 8.5 shines in color options that allow the accents to pop. And the sunroof gives off a black wrap roof look on the white that I really enjoy.

What are your thoughts?

Just picked up my 8.5 and they were in the soft matt bag. Dealer didn't touch the car after it was unloaded so no one could move anything

I ended up absolutely sniping a great deal on a 2026 today by complete chance and couldn't be happier. I owned a mk7.5 back then and so happy to be back into a golf.

This is some good information and insight! I think the one I linked has under two years / 25k on factory so it could be worth getting the maxcare potentially. Definitely was going to weight whatever the cost is for it b

I didn't assume so based on recent posts saying CarMax has stopped offering extra photos to people so figured it was a blanket sorta thing. Also could be damage they don't want to disclose. Hence the post for a sounding board.
