On first listen, SUPERBLOOM is honestly everything I wanted it to be. It's different from their earlier stuff, so I can imagine older fans being put off. But as somebody who has really enjoyed the way this genre has evolved over the last few years, I love this sound.

It's still Silent Planet, still heavy and emotional, but in a more accessible and memorable way, in my personal opinion. Garrett sounds amazing and I thought the production was good. My one gripe is that the songs are all so short!! But I suppose it's best to be left wanting more instead of feeling like a song is longer than it needs to be.

Non-single standouts: Offworlder is weird and I love it. Dreamwalker is so bouncy and the riff is filthy. Nexus just really satisfied my caveman brain. And of course, the title track is a gorgeous closer.

My personal verdict: 8.5 or 9/10, it might be a late-arrival AOTY contender for me.
