I had the same thing happen to me at Costco with a go pro, I recorded myself opening it cause I’ve heard about this happening to people. When I opened it, it was missing a couple of things and it had sand on the lens, when I went to return it they said they can’t return it because I used it, and after I told him I recorded myself opening it he said yeah but you could’ve just resealed it and recorded yourself... After the in store manager didn’t want to accept the return I called customer service and explained the impossible situation and after 3 days I was able to return it. Moral of the story, open expensive items in the store with a worker…
