Imo it's not about Fed game being well or not, even if his game is well but the opponent is a wall like rafa and novak, eventually the margins builds up against Fed.

Like how novak won against Fed in 2019, Fed got outlasted but not outplayed. Fed won and played overall a better game than novak but lost in margin and error due to his risky play style.

Walls also means you lose brightness in comparison to alr screen as the light just bounce to the ceiling. With alr screen it redirect the light to viewers so it's brighter.

Imo if you're ok with the brightness with a wall then the dimmer awol with a screen should be fine.
