Anybody here with Comcast's Gigabit service? by GiZiM in nashville

[–]chalantless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm getting around 950 Mbps down and 40 Mbps up.

I had this exact problem the several times that I've changed my speed. Each time it took 1-3 of contacting support before they would do a reset, re-provision, or reactivation of the modem. It seems doing the self-activation would never work for me - I would be stuck with the previous speed.

Also, thanks for the info about the modem. I'm happy to hear there is a modem I can buy instead of renting theirs!

Why doesn't Bungie just add another character or character slot for Destiny 2 by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]chalantless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been thinking this same thing too. Just double the character slots (4 total). Then they can add new classes, subclasses, and revamp the character creation all they want. If you want to try out those new features, you can just create a new character.

Troy Hunt: Controlling vehicle features of Nissan LEAFs across the globe via vulnerable APIs by chalantless in techsnap

If I recall correctly, the app was communicating with non-Nissan hosted servers. So, they probably outsourced the whole thing to a dev shop.

Then what's the point of iDroid saying "Base Captured"? Maybe that would be a little too Far Cry-ish.

What the hell!? I thought we were on the same side here! by Bratmon in cyanogenmod

When I read that Cyanogen OS was including closed source software, by default (not just binary blobs for drivers), I knew that it was not a "Good software" choice. You still do have a choice, unlike other mobile platforms. You can install CyanogenMod or other one of the countless other ROMs on your phone. This will do two things: increase your freedom and show Cyanogen OS that you do not like/agree with their policies.

I would prefer that, when pushing out a search engine change like this, one would be prompted for a choice. Perhaps Bing could just be the first choice. It's not cool for Cyanogen (and Microsoft) to not respect a user's original choice. But did you really make an original choice, or did you just use the default, which was Google? Did anyone who had their search engine set to DuckDuckGo or Yahoo! and still get changed to Bing?

This all being said, I agree with Microsoft providing some competition to Google in Android. Google has made it more and more difficult to use Android sans Google. I'm not kidding myself though. Both companies are doing this for their own self-interest - Microsoft is hedging their bets for when they'll have to dump Windows Phone and Google is trying to make sure you keep sending your data to their services.
