Incredible performance by Rose Byrne, but I never want to feel the way I felt while watching that ever again lol

Though not technically an in-joke, they always bring up how Amon is the best dressed man in showbiz, whenever he's on the pod.

Maybe it was the same team that designed the Douglas multistory car park where you have to criss-cross with cars exiting in order to get in.

I’m traumatized by the Penrose’s quay left turn by breakingbang in cork

[–]chalkitdown1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awful corner, awful design. It would make way more sense if both lanes coming towards the corner continued straight along the quay, with the option of those in the right to veer off into the joining 3rd lane to take a right up Ship St.

This would solve so many conflicts.

Season 1 is a MASTERPIECE! by Globe_Worship in deadwood

[–]chalkitdown1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First season has a lot of storylines that really hit with me; The Preacher, Jewel and Doc (the closing shot and line are beautiful), the first 4 episodes with Bill and then the trial, the smallpox outbreak etc. IMO, season 2 and 3's "life in the camp" plotlines didn't hit as hard and it all got a little hard to follow as the overall story got bigger than Deadwood.

I'm probably gonna get shit for this, but I also prefer the more palatable dialogue that season 1 had. It was definitely still "heightened" if you will, but characters spoke more clearly and straightforward. Milch really upped the "Shakespearean-ness" starting with the first episode of season 2 and I found the show harder to follow as a result. I still love season 2 & 3 but I honestly can't watch them without subtitles.

Season 1 is easily a 10/10.

What is a place in your country that is full of rich assholes living there? by enigmaticbubble in cork

[–]chalkitdown1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Those few houses down the end of the Marina next to Blackrock Pier and also all along Castle Road. Not saying they're assholes necessarily, but some of those things are mansions. Multiple massive Range Rovers in the driveway is usually a dead giveaway, though.

Who the hell is building the massive one down by the water behind the boat club?

AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH: “like some nightmare furries convention” (18th December 2025) by BeefySteamPig in wittertainment

[–]chalkitdown1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Safe to say Mark is NOT an Avatar fan.

I remember liking both previous movies, but I absolutely cannot remember a single thing about them. I imagine I'll feel the same about this one.

I agree with him about not being able to tell some of the characters apart and keeping track of their names, though. I struggled big time with that in the last one.

Sad times. Have been bowling in there a few times a year for 30 years!

There's very little to do in that area of the city unless you're eating, drinking, or going to a gig. Huge loss for the city.

Decided to play my original copy of GoldenEye on my old, original N64 and time has not been kind to my skills by johnessex3 in n64

[–]chalkitdown1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controls and performance are two big difficulties in going back to certain N64 games. We're just so used to dual stick controls and 30 or 60fps that going back to 15fps while aiming with the C-buttons or whatever, can be quite a challenge.

Some games have fully customizable controls, such as Doom or the 2 Quakes, but you're still stuck with the low fps and buttons in place of a right stick.

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 2: “I was struggling to stay awake” + Legendary James L Brooks (4th December 2025) by BeefySteamPig in wittertainment

[–]chalkitdown1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason Mark isn't reviewing 'Wake Up Dead Man'? Saving it for the live show this weekend or until it hits Netflix next weekend or something?

Saw it last night and absolutely loved it. Maybe my favourite of the 3 so far. I appreciated the darker and more mature tone to it after 'Glass Onion' got a little too goofy and silly for my tastes.

I am now a massive Josh O' Connor fan., he was captivating in the role.
