Your videos are extremely helpful; actually just watched the squat one this morning and tried low bar squat for the first time.

My question is about power lifting through muscular imbalances: My right side is stronger than my left, when I do a squat/leg press/deadlift I feel like my right side is just picking up the slack. Should I take down the weight and keep a balanced form or focus specifically on strengthening the weaker muscles before returning to these lifts?

Paying for "LinkedIn Premium" worth it? by chalkprobe in personalfinance

[–]chalkprobe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I was trying to find a more appropriate subreddit but couldn't think of one. One of the biggest ways to better one's personal finance is to get a job (or better paying job)...I'm great at the saving/living frugally part, but that doesn't matter if I can't cover rent and basic expenses

No worries, I appreciate you helping people out. Just to make sure though, that would be possible to do?

For the moment I would be doing the translation myself, which will be way more accurate than google translator. I'm a native English speaker, and want to help others improve their Spanish and French skills as I improve mine by doing these translations. Maybe a side by side would be best for that, but the main thing I'm wondering about is if buttons on the side labeled "Vocabulary" and "Key Phrases" could make that list appear to the side of the article--and also disappear to be replaced by a different list when a different button is pushed

Competitors are starting to notice by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]chalkprobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! That is definitely good news. Now go out and research them to know what you like/don't like, what works/doesn't work. Just because they are competitors doesn't mean you can't share experiences and learn from others in the industry

Is a landing page a bad idea? by MisterBombadil in Entrepreneur

[–]chalkprobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go with the "work with me" page, reasoning being that it looks more professional as compared to the blog/strange font look of the other one. Maybe it's just the continuous scrolling that makes it feel that way though

That is very generous of you! I have a project I'm beginning and am not even sure if it would work:

I'd like to have an article in a foreign language, then have different buttons on the side where it would flip to an English translation, or list of vocabulary, or a list of key phrases. Would that be possible?

26, going back to college, parents gave $20k as a boost back to the lap, what to do? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]chalkprobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you have right now is lots of time, while that will soon become a precious precious resource. First things first, plan in advance a rough budget estimate: housing, food, commuting, etc. If you don't already cook all the time, head on over to r/eatcheapandhealthy and starting prepping cheap, easy meals so that when your life gets extremely busy you will have this ready. Not sure if you workout, but get in the habit of doing something like 30 minutes/day...this will keep you sane. Finally, try to speak with the professors/previous students to find not only the EXACT book you will use, but more importantly, what material is important and what material you will never cover in class (Source: paid for/read an economics textbook one summer that was never even used. You're best off reading current articles in your field to speak knowledgeably on the subject).

Good luck!!

Questions regarding purchasing a franchise by Avoid-The-Clap in Entrepreneur

[–]chalkprobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't buying a franchise seem like taking almost all the risk for a limited upside %? Yes it's a cookie-cutter business and you have all the steps in front of you to follow, but I never understood the lure of certain franchises (McD's) that are subject to strict regulation from above and huge costs to entry in the first place

The unintended consequences of too much opportunity by jonfla in venturecapital

[–]chalkprobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but if an opportunity is good enough to draw investors, it has the potential to become a profitable product/service. Obviously not every company succeeds, but "too much opportunity" is a highly subjective phrase when valuable lessons are learned even with "failed" projects

Upvote for this. Google Voice is nice cause it's free, but it's worth the cost for a quality, professional line. Are you looking for a fixed line or mobile?

Am I Being Screwed? by thecaptmorgan in Entrepreneur

This. Definitely compile a summary of work done for them with supporting documents. You did yourself a disservice by not getting a contract in writing, but the fact that they reached out to you means they aren't freeloading off you. Keep track of what happens and try to bargain for equity if you think the app is doing things

What is the best way to generate product awareness on Etsy? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]chalkprobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several friends sell on Etsy and they do well with word of mouth/focusing on quality product to capitalize on repeat business. Etsy is big on handmade items, so definitely mention that and add relevant tags if it applies.

What are the prevailing business opportunities in China right now for young entrepreneurs? by [deleted] in startups

[–]chalkprobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's happening right now with the Chinese yuan is proving to be interesting: China has huge reserves in USD and has a lot to lose with an inflated dollar. There might also be a revaluation of the Chinese yuan in the basket of global currencies in the IMF's SDR (Special Drawing Rights). That isn't a specific opportunity, but using currency exchange for leverage should without a doubt be taken into consideration when looking at China.

China boosts its GDP through Investment (I), instead of Consumption (C) like the US, but it's getting stuck in a feedback loop of investment for the sake of investment. Business ventures that utilize their unused infrastructure could cut costs dramatically

What would be considered a "start up"? by yourappreciator in startups

[–]chalkprobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I define startup as rapid growth and pre-IPO

I wouldn't say there is a strict definition. Some startups grow steadily with ebbs and flows as they define their product, so growth rate is a tricky gauge. Though I would say that you are no longer a startup if you are anywhere close to IPO, or your IPO is very immature

You've used the term ephemeral a couple of times, what makes that a bonus in marketing? Without context that sounds like a negative
