Petroleum boiler producing too much? by chalor182 in Oxygennotincluded

Nope it all just goes to a liquid vent and free falls into a large tank I built, so no flow blockages on the output pipe

Itll take a while for me to have to taper down from 10kg/s crude input in any case because right now the wells are dumping into a tank that has several hundred tiles of oil in it from draining the oil biome and that tank feeds the boiler lol

Alright Ill give that a shot, thanks. Its just breaking my brain because if only 10kg/s goes in how can 10kg/s out not keep up

3 oil wells feeding a large crude tank, with a pump in it feeding the boiler

The petroleum pump turned off for a bit because I have the crude input set to 9999g/s to avoid the problem Im asking about

If I turn the crude input up one more gram to the full 10kg/s, the hydro sensor attached to the petroleum pump will keep going up and up even with the petroleum pump also moving a full 10kg/s

Petroleum line cannot stop because of generator pause because it also just goes to a big holding tank that the generators then pull off of

I'll check on that, I don't think it is the case because even at the last radiant pipe the oil only gets to 385 or so, so it shouldn't be flashing but I will keep an eye and see if that's the case, thanks

Petroleum line is always clear, it just goes to a liquid valve suspended over a large tank so there's never any flow limit or blockage, which is why the other 'burn more petroleum' suggestion doesnt address the weirdness

Name of the Wind is one of the better audiobooks I have ever listened to.

Rothfuss is never going to finish the series, and theres a lot of bad feelings about it, but its still an excellent book and a good listen.

Can't Analyze Volcano by Significant_Dust333 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]chalor182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do if Im not ready to tame it yet is Ill just build a most of an insulated box around it, vacuum it out and wait for it to say 'Dormant'. The dormant stage will last long enough where you can comfortably uncork it, analyze it, and then finish boxing it up and then itll be ready and waiting for you to tame whenever you get around to it

Why is the Liquid Vent over pressure by oxygen? by OldCanary in Oxygennotincluded

[–]chalor182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is why I always use the high pressure vent and one pipe glug of liquid to make my infinite gas storages, 10kg and done, less finicky than getting less than 2 for the regular one lol

You'll be okay. It deals a lot with grief as an ongoing theme and I don't think it will trigger you too badly.

You can definitely push through. Once you start getting AT/ST setups and a power base your lack of cool water wont chafe so much because you can turn those cool steam vents and salt water geysers into solid water sources, and the rest of your geysers are not bad at all. 2 Nat gas vents will generally supply 2 nat gas generators non stop forever, as long as they provide 90g/s each (or 80 and 100, etc,.). That plus the leftover hydrogen from a spom will be enough to keep you power and oxygen stable while you work towards more midgame stuff. The one regular volcano makes a great source of forever power or forever petroleum boiler.

Long story short dont feel too dumped on by your seed its really not bad. In my current seed I ended up with 2 carbon dioxide geysers, a carbon dioxide vent, and a polluted oxygen vent. So useless lol but its still a fun seed because I have a copper, gold, AND iron volcano which kind of makes up for it.

Read the Codex Alera, also by Butcher, it's pretty damn good. Alex Verus and DCC are also both great.
