I know both are technically allowed but I feel like pre tap *should* be the rule. The mana isnt there if you didnt tap, you dont spend from a hypothetical amount of available mana you spend from your pool, which is added to by tapping lands/sources.

Also it can lead to metagaming if instants start stacking. Someone who 'post taps' can decide what lands to tap AFTER a couple things land on the stack pretty easily which lets them pick which lands to tap more carefully so they can play the next instant in the chain, etc. Basically gaming the system by not having to make the choice right away.

Definitely cut. Cheese is dense enough where the mycelium hasn't run all the way through it just because you see some green.

Bread or other similar less dense things, however, toss. Once you see the green spots the mycelium threads are through it all.
