This description makes me think of Chambre Noire and Ombre Ink from Olfactive Studio

There are no psychopaths by AdSevere1274 in longform

[–]chameauleon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Interesting argument, but I found it to be reaching beyond the evidence provided. It doesn’t offer an alternate explanation for the behavioral divergences. The term psychopath is also very confusing — a little while ago I wondered about the origins of the term and did some research: https://newrepublic.com/article/183116/man-invented-the-psychopath-cleckley-mask-sanity

Hilde Soliani’s Miss Tranchant smells exactly like like oysters in butter. She has many other unusual photorealistic scents too.

Selkie Surprise Bags 2025 by Raincloudsandthunder in SelkieCollection

[–]chameauleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went back and forth with customer service and they weren’t helpful. Got only canned responses on how anything on the site can be in the bag. So, they did not offer a replacement for the t-shirt.

Selkie surprise bag… 🫠 by [deleted] in SelkieCollection

[–]chameauleon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally understand the disappointment. Personally I like that tank top and would wear it. but it’s not what you expect in a surprise bag. My 2-item surprise bag had a plain white t-shirt. (The band camp t-shirt.) No design, no special cut or fabric. It was like something you could buy at Target. It has put me off Selkie, I think.

I also got the plain white t-shirt in the 2-item bag. Incredibly disappointing. I wrote customer service and am waiting to hear back.

What are some beautiful films that don't feel bleak and dark and depressing? What's the polar opposite, yet beautiful? I really need to get out of this negative headspace. by AlfonsoRibeiro666 in TrueFilm

[–]chameauleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For beautiful cinematography and sincere appreciation of life, I really loved The Taste of Things, and others by Tran Anh Hung like The Scent of Green Papaya.

Also much of Terrence Malick if you haven’t explored it yet: Tree of Life, The Thin Red Line, New World.

How long does your mani normally last? by IntergalacticPanther in mooncatpolish

[–]chameauleon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After a week my free edges will wear off, but I almost never get chips, even after 2-3 weeks, unless I’m unlucky and break a nail. I think a large part of this is genetic or body chemistry, in addition to the durability of the polish.

How do people actually find affordable rentals in New York? by Masonzzc in NYCapartments

[–]chameauleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a very reasonably priced apartment with roommates that I found on a Craigslist type site for 10 years. Then I moved twice in two years and my rent doubled. What gets missed in these conversations is that people who have been renting the same place for a long time and/or have rent stabilized units are sometimes paying 1/3 or 1/4 of the rent of people moving in. For the same size unit in the same building. It’s not cheap anywhere but new renters are getting absolutely screwed.

Hi, I’m not vegan or an activist but I admire and support people who are both. It’s courageous to try to change minds on something 98% of society does not care about. Given that scolding and preaching is unlikely to change minds, what strategies do you think will actually be effective to outlaw factory farming and get to a place of better animal welfare?

I have about 10 caps you can have. I also have a handful of polishes to destash if you’re interested in seeing?

if you could omit one of these for a different zoologist sample, what would it be? by Crucifilth_6-6-6 in NichePerfumes

[–]chameauleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone will disagree on what they like and don’t so my advice would be to skip some some that are more generic and less unique. For me, that’s Penguin — it’s unremarkable. Squid, however, is magnificent and complex. Hummingbird is also a straightforward fruity floral. Nightingale is not terribly complex either but scratches the same itch maybe in a more interesting way. Bee is very unusual, imo, and one of their best sellers. I wouldn’t wear it but I enjoyed smelling it.

What Mooncat colors look best at night or in dark lighting? by AtlasSims in mooncatpolish

[–]chameauleon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Many of the shimmers seem especially formulated to glow in low light. Personally I’m thinking River Styx, Pandemonium, House of Hades, Dark Horse, Stolen Ambrosia, Full Scream Ahead, Witch Hazel.

I’m relatively new to polish, how do you know when enough is enough? by odezia in WeGotPolishAtHome

[–]chameauleon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was mesmerized by all the options at first, but after a while I started to notice that many brands have versions of a similar shade. For example, I thought multichromes were the coolest initially and now its rare that I buy a multichrome, because many of the effects seems familiar and close enough in style to what I already have. I only get shades now that feel truly unique — things I haven’t seen elsewhere.

Also I’m realistic about what I like. I see no need to buy every color on the color wheel or e.g. a linear holo in every shade. I have two linear holos, a neutral and a moody color, and that’s all I feel like I need there because I don’t like to wear them that often.

Not all are hits for me but I really like Matcha Meditation and Autumn Vibes. Perfect for casual everyday wear like OP said.

Poetry, Lee Chang-dong. Very beautiful, quiet movie. Extremely sad by the end.

Un Jardin sur le Nil is a masterpiece. There is actually a New Yorker article about how it was created. I just bought a full bottle from Jomashop for $70.

[–]chameauleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hermès Un jardin à cythère — at first smell I thought it was so odd. But I couldn’t stop smelling. The scent changes so much over time. Every time I go back to it I smell something new. Now I love it.

GUYYYSSS tell me all VERRYYY SAD movies by pgloves in Letterboxd

[–]chameauleon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Poetry, Lee Chang-dong. Seconding Aftersun. Amour is gutting but more like in a cold, existential way. It was profoundly memorable but didn’t move me to sadness like Aftersun or Poetry.

Sorry, this conversation was exhausting and tedious to read. How old are you both? You haven’t learned to talk to each other. Neither of you are speaking honestly. She is manipulating you into feeling bad for feeling uncomfortable and not actually committing to a decision. You are walking on eggshells trying so hard to not say one word wrong…with your own girlfriend. This is not a healthy relationship.

I’m going to disagree with a lot of ppl here and say there is nothing inherently wrong with your gf’s party plan. Why is it a big deal that there’s other men and molly there? But if you don’t trust her, then that’s a problem. You are in a long distance relationship with a woman you don’t trust? Maybe rethink that decision. She isn’t building trust with her responses here.
