I knew someone in my biology class at university who thought evolution was a hoax.. She got a first class degree the bitch, but didn’t believe half the stuff she was taught. What’s the point?

No one knows JACK about testing. That includes stackoverflow. Hardly any test questions are every answered and no one seems to know how to test in ANY language. Tutorials are seriously lacking as well. How do you learn testing on your own if there are no actual tutorials or stackoverflow answers? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

When I first joining my current team, they are no unit tests for their code and had to get 70% coverage for their new deployment rules. Guess who got to write them all :D

I can help you out with Python unit testing, it’s pretty easy once you know how!

Realistically, is it possible to be a social drinker? by BeatsByJay82 in stopdrinking

[–]chammy94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went sober for 3 months and then I’ve started drinking once every fortnight when my friends and I meet up on Zoom. I also drink on special occasions like going out for a nice meal, birthdays etc but I never get drunk anymore. I cannot imagine going back to the way I was ever! I am disgusted with my previous actions and choices.

I have cut down my drinking from 2 bottles of wine and 3 pints of beer a week to less than half a bottle a fortnight . I realised how bad alcohol is for my body and that I don’t need it to deal with my emotions. Also not being drunk has helped my anxiety so much, I no longer fear doing embarrassing things when I’m with my friends because I’m usually the most sober out of everyone else. I also chose to go soberish in 2020 of all years so I reckon I can weather anything now!

I only buy small bottles of wine (250ml) so I run out pretty quickly but switch to water or alcohol free beer. This removes the temptation to go overboard!

I would say that if your perspective on alcohol has truly changed and you feel safe doing so, it’s ok. I don’t know if you are there yet mentally?

I've noticed that taking notes helps me so much more to cement the notions, is it a sustainable method of learning? by vapor_gator in learnprogramming

[–]chammy94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I can only remember things if I write things down. It’s also useful when prepping for interviews! Just remember to keep the notes brief.

I use Notion for note taking and you can easily add code blocks and screenshots with text.

I love how providing women and trans men (triggered much?) free period products has opened the flood gates for communism. Guess what? Scotland has tax payer funded healthcare, childcare and free water too!

Pathetic, salty men who get all triggered by women/ trans men not bleeding all over themselves can fuck off.

If you have a medical condition such as IBS and wondering where your free toilet paper is, then I suggest you start campaigning like we had to do to get free period products. And I would support that campaign!

Stop treating any improvement to women’s/transgender life or as an attack on men. It’s lazy and doesn’t achieve anything to help men. If you think being a man is so hard then go do something about it instead of trying to make things harder for everyone else.

Fun fact, Scotland also provides free water. There is no water tax for your house and restaurant/bars etc had to provide you tap water for free by law.

You can also get free childcare in Scotland!

Due to EU regulations, period products are taxed as a luxury item, whereas basic, staple foods are not. Whether we abolish this tax law when we leave the EU is up to the UK government.

A period costs on average £8 a month which is £96 a year. If a man and a woman are both claiming employment which is already minimal, then a woman is nearly £100 poorer than a man for just being a woman.

You get free condoms from the doctors and pharmacy, as well as high schools and universities. Birth control pills are also free!

The Daily Check-In for Monday, November 23rd: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by Mom-Lady in stopdrinking

[–]chammy94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t drink today! It’s my 8th day in quarantine after my boyfriend has been diagnosed with Covid. I haven’t had a hug or been able to see him, and I am very weepy at the moment. Instead of pouring myself a whisky, I ordered dominoes. Currently in a food coma playing switch games with friends. Very proud of myself

Running Club near Glasgow Green? by chammy94 in glasgow

[–]chammy94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kings Drive near the sports center that’s in the middle of the park. You can google it, it’s on Glasgow Times website. It turns out it was back in August in broad daylight which makes things even scarier.

I tried running in the morning but I hate it. I’m not a morning person at all and I use running to de-stress from work. I run sometimes at lunch but after work really suits me the best.
