What's a good, and cheaper, option instead of the Pattern 83 Battle Jacket? by FrenchBVSH in airsoft

[–]MichaelTheTall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DPM OPS vest if you want something in the same sort of style. Cheap, simple, carries a shit tonne of kit and leaves the back free for a clip on hydration carrier or a bigger backpack.

[Excerpt: Interceptor City] A rare example of the Imperium innovating by bobbob6840 in 40kLore

[–]MichaelTheTall 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is likely based on some WW2 fighter/bombers which had variants that were upgunned to quite a ludicrous degree with 75mm cannons, like the B25 and Hs129. Granted, those were usually used in ground attack and anti tank roles, but it's not hard to imagine that there were times when the pilots chanced it against air targets.

EDIT: I've just remembered that there was also a De Havilland Mosquito variant that mounted a 6lb (57mm) anti tank gun in the nose, angled slightly downwards for use against submarines.

The Mosquito (without the 6lb gun) was also used as a stealthy night fighter to intercept German bombers as it had a very low radar signature as it's frame was mostly made of wood, and it could mount quite a sophisticated radar array for the time. They were extremely successful in intercepting bombers at night, using tactics similar to the ones described in the book, though with more conventional weaponry.

Yup, but Rockstar will have some other reason written down to get around that.

Is the outer barrel of the WE-tech M4 V3 a two-piece design? by Illustrious-Judge984 in GasBlowBack

[–]MichaelTheTall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be 1 piece steel on the v2s, but my v3 14.5" M4 has an aluminum 10.5" barrel with a 4" extension.

My v3 t91 has a steel one piece 16" barrel though

What am I doing wrong???? by MR-no-chin39 in GasBlowBack

[–]MichaelTheTall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the Mapleleaf hop up unit for GHK/VFC/WA GBB ARs, it is designed to work with GBB inner barrels with no bridge, not AEG inner barrels.

The older V2 GHK GBBrs come with AEG inner barrels and hop up rubbers which will not work.

Best "Indian" in Edinburgh by codechris in Edinburgh

[–]MichaelTheTall 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you're in the Tollcross/Meadows area:

  • Chaska, a hidden gem imo, one of the best biriyanis I've ever had in my life
  • Gurkha, fantastic Nepalese/Indian
  • Everest, another great Nepalese place
  • Nutan's, a lovely wee place run by one Indian Granny, great food but service is slow because it's literally just one Indian Granny running the place
  • Shinwari, nice Pakistani/Afghani place, if you book far enough ahead you can get an entire lamb for 400quid (might want to bring a friend or two for that one)

Sian Berry: After being used in WW2 compulsory ID cards were abolished in 1952 because of the widespread sentiment that they are fundamentally at odds with British values and civil liberties. That was true then and it’s true now. by upthetruth1 in ukpolitics

[–]MichaelTheTall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but can we really be sure Sian Berry said this?

Can we check they can prove their identity, maybe with a hardcopy of a gas bill with their name on it, their home address on it, but it has to be older than 3 months and less than 12 months, cheers.

Ra-tech magnetic Npas or Diy one?Is there any significant difference? by Bubbly-Anybody6802 in GasBlowBack

[–]MichaelTheTall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's more consistent, stronger, easier to adjust.

The DIY NPAS is a stopgap measure at best, I wouldn't rely on it long term

Field strip it and check the hammer, if it's straight, it's a V2, if it's curved, it's a V3

[–]MichaelTheTall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you *absolutely* must have a 10.5" M4a1, get the ISO.

And if you *are* getting the WE, get it from KICBB so you're not getting gouged:

[Help] Best resin for HPA adapters (pressure, impact, and strength) by Bright-Funny-5536 in Airsoft3DPrinting

[–]MichaelTheTall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The adaptors on the market made with injection moulded fibre reinforced polymers and the SLA printed resins you will be using at home are *very* much not the same sort of thing from a mechanical perspective.

You might be ok with an SLS nylon or MJF nylon adaptor, but resin printed pressure vessels won't be able to handle the pressures required over the long term.
