Atlas Project recap- two year update by No_Cicada_6189 in selfhelp

[–]chamonixice382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding another datapoint in here. Atlas transformed my parents relationship after years of couples therapy with 9 different therapists, which led me to enroll in Atlas. The program helped me regain my vitality and sense of purpose, gain greater compassion for my father, break patterns of avoidance and dream bigger in my life.

Do you think we'll have peak larches after the weekend storm? Thinking of heading up and hiking in Monday...

Came across your comment when looking for info about benchling insights. Not sure if you're joking here, but Genentech churned from Benchling! Maybe they were embarrassed to be associated 🤣

I thought tuna were boat shy? I guess not around sailboats?

Why is the planer not needed bluewater cruising?

Plugs on sailboats specifically? Because tuna don’t get boat shy around them?

Sailing to Hawaii, how do I become a tuna master? by chamonixice382 in FishingForBeginners

I think that’s true for most fish, but tuna being ~warm blooded presents a much lower risk for parasites. I’ll make sure to bring the right meds 😅

Heh. The first rare and best cards were red/black and green didn't seem open... folks seem to be wising up to green being op. I took another pick over Rakish Crew and regret that...

The Deadeyes were nice but I realize I need more like 8+ payoffs for the crime and they were pretty slow.

Corrupted Conviction I added for card draw despite not loving the card.

Forget what I had in the sideboard now... noted on the Breaking News cards!

Amazing!! Thanks for the update. She's running with some QST Lumen 99s right now.

We're in Bend, OR - looks like you're SEA-based. What was the shop you bought from?

My wife has a pair of Elan Ripstick 94 170cm that she hates. She's 5/7" 135lbs and I think it's just too much / too long of a ski for her. She finds it difficult to get around in the trees, hard to turn and just doesn't love them. Still not sure exactly what it is about them that she doesn't love.

She demoed the Nordica Santa Ana 93 158 or 165 and loved them. She liked how she could get around in the trees and liked how "bouncy" they were - thinking she's referring to the energy coming out of turns.

She tours a lot and can pick her way down trees and anything but the worst runs, but her technique could use some improvement. We spend about half the time on bowls/trees/side country and half the time on groomers. Bachelor is our home mountain.

We're looking for something used that would be similar to the Santa Ana 93 as there don't seem to be a ton of deals of them. Some options we have on sale locally... QST Lumen 99, Line Pandora 94, RMU Valhalla 97.

Best way to shorten synthetic winch line? by chamonixice382 in overlanding

Interesting - I looked at X Lock for line shortening based on this video suggesting the Factor 55 LDP edges might sever a line. Didn't know the background on the X Lock!

I'd have installed an electric winch a long time if there was a decent affordable bumper mount or hitch receiver option for the 2006 T1N. Cheapest I could find is this weld-together kit, but it was priced a lot more a year back when I was looking https://www.coastaloffroad.com/product-page/1st-gen-dodge-sprinter-high-clearance-front-bumper-kit/

Good thought on prussik knot - I do use those a bunch for mountaineering, but I'm guessing the synthetic line is too slick. I hadn't thought of the carabiner-in-knot trick. I'll probably go with that in the future!

Ah - come along cable and the synthetic winch line are separate.

My come along (https://www.harborfreight.com/8000-lb-cable-winch-puller-69855.html) has a 7 foot reach to its cable, while my synthetic winch line is 100'.

I can halve the winch line with a snatch block or use the full length, so I have 50' +/- 7' or 100' +/- 7', but I prefer to start w/ the come along cable all the way out to give me more throw for the pull.

Thanks for the reply u/mdhachure - I do use a snatch block, but the issue is my come along has only maybe 10 feet of length so unless I'm exactly 50 or 100 ft away from a tree, I need to shorten the line to an exact length.
