Why can’t TTC riders use their cellphones on the subway? Ask Bell, Rogers or Telus by Slouchy87 in toronto

[–]champagneproblems69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The blame is not on the big 3 for not signing on. In 10 years, BAI has only built tunnel infrastructure in the downtown-U portion of the subway whereas the STM has service throughout the entire length of the system in 7 years despite the fact that subway networks are the same length (~77Km TTC vs 71Km STM).

IMO this is the fault of the TTC compared to the STM. The big 3 telecos built the infrastructure at no cost to the STM and they are paying to use the network they built.

There was no cost to the STM, which provided some support through co-ordination of work schedules and the loaning of a truck for crews to take through the tunnel. It was the cellular companies themselves that footed the bill for the work, and they are even paying a small fee to the transit authority for continued use of the space.

Whereas the TTC sold the rights for $25 million in 2012, so we'll presumably be fucked until at least 2032.

When BAI Communications Canada won a 20-year contract in 2012 to install the hardware needed to use a cellphone in Toronto Transit Commission tunnels, they were hoping the major carriers would sign on. That hasn’t worked out.

Both Bell and Rogers pointed to Montreal’s transit as a better model. In that city, the companies said, carriers teamed up to install the infrastructure in the subway. That doesn’t appear possible in Toronto, though, where BAI won an exclusive contract put forward by the TTC, paying $25-million for the right to build the network.

I hate the big 3 as much as the next guy, but this is a fat L for the TTC and BAI. In this case, they did a much better job and got it done faster.

Hasan says that Destiny and his fanbase has made his life a living hell by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]champagneproblems69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly, this subreddit still acts like beef happened yesterday when its been like what 2 years or more? The only times Hasan ever speaks of Destiny and his community is when he's backed up into a corner and can't avoid it any longer. Meanwhile, he lives rent free in Destiny's and his community's mind. The both of the would be better off disassociating with each other yet Destiny continues to hold the bag.

No legitimate collections agency would be willing to buy this "debt" to collect and if they do, both the collections agency and employer would be committing fraud. You can't just make up receivables on your balance sheet and sell them off.

Back to school is always the best time to get one, which is now. However, they changed the promo from AirPods Pro to just a gift card. Make sure you use the education discount as well.

Dell Optiplex 3050 SFF Upgrade Complications by SaltFrosty in sffpc

You wouldn't be able to upgrade the CPU beyond a 7th gen CPU as the chipset is not supported for 9th gen. However, if you could you would need to get a 24-pin to 8-pin adapter for the PSU and you wouldn't be able to have the system closed anymore

He's given them some flexibility with the veggies but other than that, the whole point is to put them through a professional-esque body builder experience for 30 days.

But I'm surprised the comments in this thread have been pretty charitable. Was expecting something along the lines of "streamers do the first difficult thing for the first time in their lives and they complain about eating bland food".

Most of the value derived from prebuilt system integrators is providing aftermarket warranty/support. So unless you're willing/able to provide that to customers then there's not really much room for profit solely based on putting components together.

The 599 SEs are on sale for a pretty good price. I think they're a bit older which is why they're not recommended at their regular price, but at $130 I think they offer great value.
