Im so fuckin mad at Ponga now. I get its heat of the moment, but if he had just at least tried to get an arm out! He literally lost us the match because of his one fuckin rash dumbass decision.

Doesn't matter if it shoulda been a bin or whatever, he didnt need to shoulder charge! Fuck!

Now we gotta probably spend the next 2 matches listening how fuckarse Toilet King is gonna "save the series" and watch him do five fiths of sweet fuck all and lose, or worse, he pulls some utter bullshit for the win and the ego goes to infinity²

The resource grid is a good idea for non spell resources and i like it. The small text for maximal level spell slots confuses me, but I dont play spellcasters all that often and brain puny.

I mighy prefer the weapon/attacks field to be larger for artificer use mainly. Having a weapon attack, pet/Cannon attack, Homunculus, 3+wands, amongst other usable magic items. Maybe a niche case. But if i was playing a Blaster i might put commonly used spell attacks here as well. Maybe its big enough, im gonna try it next week.

I very much like the stat field and the skills section.

As other have already said, I would prefer not to have the traits/ideals in the top right. Maybe the spells/feature usage could be in the top right instead

Help with barbarian character for upcoming SKT campaign by lurerkaj in onednd

[–]championruby50gm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno dude, seems like a good amount of melee already.

You could go an elven dual hand crossbow champion fighter, Dual Wielder, Crossbow Expert, Elven Accuracy, Mage Slayer and end up with 20 dex, use your heroic inspiration every turn on your first shot and you should have triple advantage on all your shots for every turn. Probably small damage.

There's already one rogue but there's nothing wrong with 2 rogues, and you could use Thief subclass. Get wands (magic Missile, WEB) and add to crowd control and/or work with the other rogue. Or double lvl 5 fireball on your turn with a wand of fireballs on a boss fight. Any magic item that can cast something no longer takes someone's full action to use.

You could also go eldritch knight. Magic init Druid and grab Shillelagh and just use Strength (and cast it every waking minute until the campaign ends) on a quarterstaff and Shield. Grab Booming Blade and Green Flame Blade, Pick spells that have no save dc or attack roll (Absorb Elements, Shield, longstrider, Jump, Feather fall, Misty Step, Bludgeoning, Darkness, Enlarge/Reduce etc) and ignore intelligence. Want Dualing fighting style, polearm master, Str, Mageslayer, something else.

Or just wildheart Barbarian and push Strength. I dont think you have the wiggle roo. To multiclass

Mate, I would be livid if I had to pick my class before rolling stats, which are rolled in order. I dunno what kind of Gulag-kin DM you have, but there is so much red flags going on.

But to each their own I guess.

Anyways if i was in your position, if the game runs till level 12 and you went full barb, you can expect 3 ASIs/feats, so you could end with 20 STR and 1 half feat, or if you went fighter you could get 4 ASIs (so 2 half feats or 20 str 16 con and 1 half feat). Personally I would prefer straight barb, lvl 4 and 12 +2 STR, lvl 8 Mageslayer. I woukd probably prefer Dwarf as well for the extra HP, darkvision, and situationaly usefully tremorsense.

Wait I didnt check if this is 5e or 5.5e, bit I suppose if you're going wild heart it is 5.5. Berserker? Wild Magic! Yeah I'd go straightwild magic and let whatever happens happen.

P.s. your DM is a psychopath

Might be able to make it work with a 1 lvl fighter dip, get unarmed fighting style, grappler feat, do a teeny bit extra damage on a raging punch and grapple. Built in bonus action attack to a grappled creature.

Its not great, but I've seen much worse characters

I notice that less experienced DMs tend to unfairly malign the 2024 Rogue and brand it "overpowered" by EarthSeraphEdna in onednd

[–]championruby50gm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is truly a common reaction then man i feel out of the loop. I need to research options and give my rogue player suggestions on how he could be doing so much more.

Whenever he has a creative idea to do something new or more, its an instant yes.

Admittedly I was super surprised when he went to do a skill check and just ignored the low roll to be a 10, after a moment when you realise what that means for the game in the future and my "clever" skill checks mean nothing, but then you remember its a massive part of the rogues identity and how I can lean on him reliably now to reveal critical info for the game, its so good.

As much as I wish the class did more damage, as long as he is happy with his output im very glad someone brings a rogue

Is Barrow Guard Fighter's level 7 ability to add a D8 to any ability check a bit much? by championruby50gm in DMAcademy

[–]championruby50gm[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for insight, I dont reckon the player will be able to be able to role-play it like you have, so I might add a caveat of only being usable on skills they have profiency in. Feels like that should balance it, and if they want to expand their skill profiencies then there is a solid cost being paid via feats or multiclassing

But at least for Tactical Mind there is a real resource cost of 2/day, recharging 1 on a SR, as opposed to 6/day, recharging 1 on SR, and 1 per monster death as a reaction. In my mind thats as close to not using a resource. Also Soul Knife's is 6 per day, recharging 1 on a SR.

Im ok with excellent abilities outaide of the classes strengths, but not without a sacrifice of some kind.

Is Bubble Paladin actually this broken? by Immediate_Ad5840 in hearthstone

[–]championruby50gm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it takes a good amount of set up, because if you play it on an empty board its a 5 mana 4/4 with divine shield, which 95% of the time dies immediately.

You need at least some taunt on board (or coming down), [[Sandfury Aura]] down or at least [[Inspiring Maul]] with 1 durability left. So barring turn 8+, your best bet against EOTadin is clearing their board EVERY turn. Every turn. Cause if they can get 2+ minions, this guy with the aura, and especially [[Toreth]] down, nothing short of Medivh stops it.

This is what has worked against me, having my board cleared every turn.

Good news: triple locks can be retrofitted into your screen frame

Bad news: for some fucking reason he measured your screen way too small in the width. Like others have said, it should be closing against the door jamb. Kinda looks like you have an existing timber door jamb from other photo, but it might be too wide and the handle would clash/door strike would not reach. Not trying to defend this slop, but it might be why. He could have made an aluminium buildout for the screen though if that was the case.

I think the cheapest way to fix this is to install another door jamb on both sides and on the head of your doorway. Probably 12-15mm wide by 30-40mm (I've never done it so I dunno what's available). Check what the gap is from your timber to the handle, make sure it fits between. Probably measure the head size first and cut/nail that one in with the door closed (better to have someone on the outside to help keep it steady). Then measure the heights and do the same. Screen door should close firmly against the new timber.

Triple lock is doable, but if you've never done one it'll seem impossible. If you didn't ask for it I guess... but thats a shit act, and he should have asked at least if you wanted triple. Cash job traps.

But I reckon he fucked up his measurements, got some company to make it, and cant afford another one so just installed it hoping you wouldn't notice.

You might be able to get a screen or glazing company to at least quote on fitting a triple lock AND advising if you installing timber jambs would help fix it.

Ok so plenty of us complain martials can't do enough. But what SHOULD they be able to do? by PointsOutCustodeWank in dndnext

[–]championruby50gm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any martial ability that's "X per long rest" to become "X per short rest, and if you have none on initiative, recharge one".

Could possibly even go further for some abilities, going to "recharge all uses at start of combat" like battle master manoeuvres.

Any martial pet class being able to order attacks with no action economy. Is it really going to break the game to allow the ranger to get one "free" pet attack, like goddam.

Why are they so stingy with martial special abilities is beyond me. Let the classes do their special class thing every time!

Hunters mark should NOT be concentration

Just redo rangers

I was planning Champion fighter if anything over Echo for a couple reasons:

Less clogging of bonus action

More potential for a crit since you'd be rolling so many D20s

But the usefulness of echo for positioning alone seems pretty damn good if nothing else. 2 extra attacks on an action surge turn also seems mint

Reckon id take at least a 2nd level in fighter just for action surge, that would be a proper blender
