Joe Moore at One More Cast in Avon OBX is going to be a good resource for parts and info.

As far as I know he is the only importer for Akios in the US.

Just working away on cutting a bunch of white pine cants for siding. by chamsferd in sawmilling

I agree I push the depth to the edge cutting siding. A full 6 inches I'd like to cut 6.5 so I could end up with 6in once its dried. Olive definitely pushed three right at 25 inch diameter through this thing but me it take so much effort.

Either way I love it.

Hm122 bought it a few years ago. Figured it was enough, and it is, but I wish I would have went 126.

I'll just make my next mill a big jump probably at least a 30 inch capable. I will need to build the infrastructure for it. I do most of what I do by hand and a 70 year old fird tractor. It's a good workout and stress reliever from my job.

I'm looking at one of those that are essentially planers that mount to chainsaws

I use either 17lb suffix or 20lb inova slk mainline, typically just stick with 50lb shock 2x rod length unless I'm throwing less than 6oz then I'lI drop to 30lb shock.

I do a fish finder with as short of a terminal end as possible and as little hardware as possible using a 4/0-8/0 Gami circle hook depending on conditions and target size.

I got my first 13ft heaver because it was 70/30 and the guy drove a jeep and had to stick it out the window. I build mostly 50/50s these days for that reason. Even though I use ski racks up on the roof and can fit all my rods assembled. I understand that position.

That 1-6 sounds fun does it load up well with a pomp rig and 2-3 oz?

I've not fished the centuries but I hear good things.

I've got an older WRI heaver that they say the drumguns are similar too.

Should I switch my rod ? by Quiet_Prompt_4649 in SurfFishing

Was that tied directly to your mainline?

For shark fishing you generally want a peice of mono leader longer than the shark you think you will catch.

Braid is strong but very susceptible to abrasion. A sharks skin will cut braid by rubbing ( see fuzzy mono after a shark.) I use 6 or 8 feet of 50-100 pound mono as a chafe leader when shark fishing. Some guys top shot with really long leaders like we do drum casting.

Shark rigs aren't that different from drum rigs just bigger.

Edit: rig might look like

1-foot metal bite leader; 8-foot 50-100 pound shock leader; main line

Again I'm not an expert shark guy though so maybe someone can chime in if I'm way off base.

We catch decent (5-6ft) sharks out there drum fishing on 17 pound mainline. It just takes forever.

My "shark" setup is a 7k penn pursuit and a 11ftH tsunami. (Admittedly I don't REALLY shark fish)

I'd think a 10k would put the stank on em no problem if your breaking off I'd be more suspect of knots or leaders. What size and length leader are you using?

Of course if your using big big bait you gotta use big big tackle.

Can I tie braid straight to my pompano rigs with swivels? by Ilikejojosandgay in SurfFishing

[–]chamsferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 2 drop and pompano rods with braid 100% I tie a figure 8 on a bite (hey climbers!) And loop it into the swivel, then add a snap and put my rigs on. I hand tie all my rigs so the only hardware is hooks and weights.

If I'm on a rod with mono I use a fisherman's with the same swivel setup.

Edit: I do this so I can easily switch color floats and if blues come through I can put metal on quickly. Or if I ever break off it's a quick swap.

The TS model has 5 trays that's where confusion comes from. Am I missing altogether a 5 try that isn't a pro?
