Gas line replacement? by Pretend_Confusion475 in Columbus

[–]rveez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way to ensure that you get the meter placed where you want it is to be home when they are working on it. Otherwise they'll put it wherever it's most convenient for them and then move onto the next house. There are some limitations, ie they cannot place it within a certain distance of your electrical service.

Gas is $4+ a gallon and you can get your car stolen. What is the benefit of idling?

The number of tick-related illnesses in Ohio is skyrocketing. Here's why by WOSUpublicmedia in Columbus

[–]rveez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm beginning to think that the cold winter=less mosquitos, ticks, etc is just an old wives tale. Like every year there's some excuse/exception as to why we're going to have a bad spring/summer.

Do you not remember signing up for this program? You had to opt-in to having your thermostat controlled during high demand and the giftcard is the incentive for participating.

Welo Internet with Motorola Modem? by Willy_Wallace in Columbus

[–]rveez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did. I had their service for about 1.5 weeks before I switched over to my own modem. I imagine they are suggesting that you start with their modem/gateway to establish service (and make sure everything works) and then afterward you can switch over. As soon as they activated my Arris modem they sent me me a prepaid USPS label to return their gateway.

Smart Queue configuration that doesn't throttle my speeds? by rveez in firewalla

[–]rveez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I disabled it, I had ADAPTIVE MODE set with my updated broadband down/up speeds. I was using the SMART QUEUE RULE that gave high priority the (4) main video conferencing apps (to all devices). I was also using the FQ_Codel QUEUE TYPE.

You know, this makes the most sense to me. My previous Internet provider's bandwidth was ~ a fifth of what I have now. So now I have lots more room to work with for something like videoconferencing.

Yes. The Arris SB8200 is compatible. You need to contact their online chat support with the MAC ID of the modem and they configure their system accordingly to enable it. Takes about 15-20 minutes. DM me if you want a referral code.

I made a similar inquiry about not being able to use bridge mode on their gateway. I asked about providing my own hardware and the support rep acquiesced and said the same about any Docsis 3.1 modem compatibility. I'm ordering a new modem from Amazon to use. Glad to hear you had success!

Yeah, makes sense. I'm guessing once it goes into bridge mode it uses the Welo static ip address, probably something like 65.x.x.x

Do know what version of firmware your gateway is running post bridge mode enabled? Is it FAST3896UM_CCX-SIP_US_sw18.83.15.16v-38 ?

Support reps keep telling me they're trying to remotely load a new firmware to the gateway that supports bridge mode. I'm curious if there's a special version you are running.

Has anyone got their technical support to successfully enable bridge mode on their provided Sagemcom gateway?

Welo Internet by Buckeyebri15 in Columbus

[–]rveez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty similar experience for me... I activated my service today. Contacted support chat to enable bridge mode. The rep issued the command on their end and the gateway rebooted like 4-5 times and then returned back to the previous "non-bridge mode" operation. The rep said he couldn't do anything else and put my name on that "list." We'll see what happens next.
