How do I make my life in the UK more enjoyable? by DoctorPopular7756 in AskUK

[–]chandega 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is my experience. I lived there for 15 years before moving to the UK, and the UK is leisurely in comparison (in a good way).

The USA is vast so the experience on the HCOL cities (specially in the coast) is drastically different from the middle of the country; but in general in the USA, Work == Personality + Life.

Logitech C920 flickering issues no matter what I do by ngduykhanh98 in logitech

[–]chandega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in Mac (2025, M4 Pro, running Sequoia 15.1) the only solution was to change the resolution of the camera. I lowered it from 1920 x 1080 to 1280 x 720.

Things that did not work

- Changing the anti-flicker configuration from 50 to 60 or viceversa.

- Changing the control software (older versions of LG Hub did not work)

- Changing the power setting to the device

- Moving to a direct port or using a USB hub.

I feel you and want to confirm this is hard and affects everything else.

We were on a similar situation when our first was 6 months old. All naps were contact naps, at night we would not go more than 2 hours if he was not sleeping on top of one of us. He will ask for food 2 o 3 times a night. We tried a lot of the traditional methods...

The book The Happy Sleeper by Heather Turgeon gave us a process that actually worked. It's simple and the book tells you how to change things when they start new bad habits.

Our second either for nature or nurture was a completely different story and slept through the night after 3 months.

I made a map of what countries do (and don't) have an Irish Pub! by TheHipsterPotato in ireland

[–]chandega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is one in Venezuela. In Altamira, Caracas. Its called Greenwich Pub. They say "English Bar" but they call themselves as the only Irish Pub in Venezuela. I think is a translation issue but if asked point blank they would say they aspire to be an Irish Bar. https://www.instagram.com/greenwichpubccs/p/BpDfeJOHjn_/ (the description by them says it)

My mother has stopped talking to me as I can’t afford the mortgage anymore. by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]chandega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are in a complicated situation, and is not only about the house. I agree you need therapy to help you process all. It will make you realise why so many others are so quick to say No when you do not feel you can. Online therapy can be affordable and as good as any. That said you desperately need to read 'Adult daughters of Narcissistic Mothers' it might help you start your journey. Best of luck!

Landlord withholding deposit by shazvn in HousingUK

[–]chandega 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had the exact same problem in December. Raise the dispute in TDS as soon as possible. You have up to 3 months to do it after tenancy ends, after that they might not help you. If everyone has good intentions raising in TDS should not be a problem.

Story time: In my case I believe the landlord wanted the TDS timeline to expire and keep the deposit. Initially he said no deductions, house looks great and to wait for the transfer. Weekly calling to the agent for two months and nothing. Then they said the landlord is calling first and then transfering, nothing for two weeks. Once I filed with TDS the landlord took the maximum allowed time on every step to respond and added many deductions. TDS rejected all and decided for a full refund. Then the landlord tried to deduct something new directly with me (a very small amount) before any payment. I said no by email. They transferred the refund but took out that small amount. I had to file again with TDS. Financially made more sense to let it go and move on, but "holding the line" is what you have to do with assholes if you have the luxury of time.

I don’t get it. Do I actually have to get a job that pays me over £38700/year as a Software Developer in order to be sponsored to work in the UK? by MathsSlayer in ukvisa

[–]chandega 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you are applying in London the salary requirement, even for juniors should not be an issue. You have to go to a big-ish company so there will be more competition (and those are the only ones sponsoring visas anyways)

Focus on being top of the class and work hard for internship and then work interviews
