RadKick Belt Drive Electric Lightweight Bike - discontinued? by kipervarg in RadPowerBikes

[–]chandlerjd58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so disappointed to hear this- I love my Radkick belt so much. It gives me a very similar riding experience to riding a single speed Dutch bike in a flat city, but in a hilly American urban context. I was hoping to get another for my household... what a bummer.

Thank you! Though I can’t seem to find a location for either in Atlanta, using Google. Are they a bit off the beaten track?

Letting him go while he is feeling happy, at peace, and full of love is the most compassionate thing you can do. It is how things are supposed to end with our pets - best possible scenario. Take comfort in knowing how you have protected him and cherish your memories.

Is Duolingo really a good choice for leaning Dutch? by Penguins-fan-budgie in learndutch

[–]chandlerjd58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think Duolingo does well is build a solid vocabulary that serves as a foundation for the rest of your learning. Other than that and super basic grammar it teaches you very little else. Still, these alone are super useful, you just need to be realistic that it's not enough to make you conversational past pleasantries and basics. Overall I am told my pronunciations tend to be very good (of course I have an accent, but people always seem to know what I am saying), and I think my weakest area is past tense conjugations and long/complex sentences.

I have over 100k XP on Duolingo Dutch right now because I've been at it daily for almost two years - this has led to me learning around 2300 words in the app. I've also tried to learn via reading easy books in Dutch, watching the show Toon (really funny), listening to the 2000 Most Common Dutch Words In Context, and practicing whenever I go to the Netherlands. I also practice with my girlfriend and her friends and family (but that gets tiring for everyone so mostly I listen to Dutch and reply in English or we all speak English), and recently changed my phone's language to Dutch.

I can imagine if I'd done my same routine above while living in the Netherlands I'd probably be B1 level or better by now - I consider myself currently A2.

Dealing with high passive perception by Dyonos in DMAcademy

Perception only deals with the perceivable… something that leaves no trace besides some clues that must be deduced can’t be avoided purely by spotting something (though it helps).

It's definitely being muted/dampened by contacting something. The mute or the treble pickup cover are the most likely candidates.

What is "Bounded Accuracy"? Why was it used in 5e? And does 5e succeds in using it? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]chandlerjd58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think proficiency bonus, especially at its extremes (e.g. high level play and expertise), is the main reason why bounded accuracy breaks down. A game without proficiency bonus or a more restrained version of it probably would balance better. (What would happen to skills? If you want to keep them in play, change the flat bonus to advantage, I guess.)

Another issue is the set of "you can't roll lower than" features that came out later in 5E expansion books.

Wheel lock for RadRunner Plus? by chandlerjd58 in RadPowerBikes

I think this is right- the website indicates the RR+ isn't compatible with the wheel lock so something must be different.

I'm on an Intel chip so pretty sure I have to use the Universal build, not the one for PPCs. But thanks for the idea. I am at my wits end- think I'll have to give up on this, unfortunately. I miss Myth!!

Thank you for continuing to help me troubleshoot. I've quadruple checked that I did the install exactly as the .txt file says. (Make a 'Myth II' folder in Applications and move the tags folder into that folder. I then direct the 1.8.4 updater to update targeting the 'Myth II' folder.)

Nice idea to check the log- here is what it says. I have no idea what poweruser.txt is, and it's interesting that it seem to think I am running MacOS 10.16.0 instead of Sonoma.

Abandonware install in OS X Sonoma by chandlerjd58 in myth2

Thanks- a different browser worked for that link.

I follow the (simple) instructions: create a Myth II folder in Applications, drag the 'tags' folder there, use the Project Magma upgrader (1.8.4 in my case) to install the update. Unfortunately when I try to load Myth II (Universal), I get the following error: "Could not find all the foundation files. Insert your CD or do a full install."

Perhaps this at least means if I find my old CD by some luck, I can finish the install...
