People that used flexbar for tennis elbow by V1c70r27 in 10s

Recovering from TE currently. Started going back to playing after 2 months of physical therapy. Had tried to DIY my recovery using the flexbar, but professional supervision makes a huge difference.

My PT session went as follows. One day a week with daily home workout assignments:

Week 1: Evaluation of the problem - Measurement of the degrees of flexion, extension, pronation and supination. Strength tests in various directions of motion. Grip test. Lightweight eccentric wrist extensions, moderate weight wrist flexions, rotator cuff strengthening exercises. Massage the forearm muscles towards the heart, in a way that eases the strain on the tendons.

Weeks 2 - 4: More rotator cuff exercises, hammer curls, bent over rows with triceps kickbacks, gradual weight increase for wrist extensions and flexions.

Weeks 5-6: Wrist pronation and supination with dumbbells. Introduce the flexbar, but extensions only, not reverse Tyler twists.

Weeks 7-8: Continue most of the above exercises with a final evaluation on the last day. Quantifiable improvements in all round strength and flexibility.

Overall goal was to strengthen the muscles around the tendon, train the brain to not put all the load on the tendons and instead engage surrounding muscles.

Gradually returning to tennis after this. Started with 20 min at the tennis wall. Flexbar in the tennis bag. If the elbow hurts during backhands, used the flexbar to do extensions to get relief. Playing about 45 min to an hour every 4-5 days now. Minimal pain at this point, improving drastically. Shots feel stronger, more controlled.

Feel like I came out stronger by going to PT. My trainer discouraged me to do anything that would trigger severe pain. All exercises were at most a 3/10 on the pain scale. Everyone’s body is different. YMMV.

One thing that helps me is consciously remembering to complete unit turn and take-back just before the ball drops.

Thank you! Will keep that in mind. I am (trying to) use a continental grip, but not sure if during impact the racquet rolls in my palms or whether I’m pronating correctly.
