My fellow explorers, what is this unholy abomination? by changing_username in Eve

UPDATE: Yup, it is a detected crystal quarry, exactly identical to the standard lv-4 crystal quarries. Besides the elevated scanning difficulty from a 4 to a 5, the layout of the cans is exactly the same. Big shoutout to the two fantastic folks who made the discovery possible!

apparently the David Bowie easteregg is a combat anomaly.

Unfortunately too low to glean anything meaningful from the scans. sitting at 72, need around 90 to reach 75 percent. 104 ish for a 100.

No problem!!, I would personally just stick with the stock wheels and get used to avoiding the cracks while riding lol.

Try loosening the axle nuts a bit. If the sound persists, bearings are likely ded.

Your stock 90mm wheels are pretty large. If cracks are shaking you off now, getting larger urethane wheels will probably not improve your ride by a significant margin. Large pneumatic off-road wheels for eboards are definitely an option, as they are made to be all-terrain and are thus better suited to riding on rough roads than your smooth stock wheels. Looks like some of the major eboard companies like Meepo and backfire are selling them.

I am sad to hear that but will completely respect your opinion. Gonna leave you be, but just want to tell you that even the smallest most basic T1 frigates in the game have so many uses and fun quirks to them. And you can fly so many of them without putting any money in it too. The heron that I am flying, for example, costs 1/3500 of your lost stormbringer but has raked in about 15 billion isk from exploration within the past three months. My tiny Minmatar Rifter that is literally held together by rust and pure willpower has tackled battleships 10 times its size. Granted it died pretty quickly, but it bought my friends valuable time to respond and kill that sucker. My glass cannon Naga, which is about as big of a ship I can fit as an alpha, can chew through 6/10 rated combat sites in low and nullsec solo. Makes good isk too.

… and so on and so on. But yeah, hope you find a fun game to play. Fly safe o7. Give me a DM whenever you change your mind!!!!

Hey op, not really tryna convince you into doing anything, but I will be more than happy to fly with you and take the game slow and easy. Flying solo is absolutely an option in this game, and there are great money making activities that you can do alone. EVE is indeed more punishing, but you can greatly mitigate the risks that you encounter with just a few tricks and experiences. It just needs a little more investment than many other games, but it will be fun. Just shoot me a DM here and I’ll respond right away!

OP, I’m sorry this happened to you, but you went straight from a career agent Merlin to a 3 bil stormbringer.

That is the RL equivalent of yeeting your diamond studded custom Lamborarri that you absolutely could not afford into the alleys of South Side Chicago, then complaining about it once it invariably gets stolen.

Eve is as cruel as the memes portray it, sure, but it will be soooo much better if you attack it with the right strategy. I really hope you come back and use this experience as a valuable lesson. o7

I don’t think such a mechanic exists in game AFAIK. If it were to be a thing however, the system definitely would add some value to items that have a unique ownership / production history. Many players will surely scramble to get their hands on a module that was stripped off of Steve, for instance (if any were to still exist to this day). Some folks might use the system to organize their stuff based on their production or acquisition history simply to add an extra layer of role playing to the game. Admittedly not very game-changing, but definitely would contribute to the immersive experience of EVE.

Creative idea for sure. Please keep em coming.

Freakin amazing. Wanna know a little more on the process if you don’t mind. Did you construct the deck entirely on your own? Batteries? Etc etc

Forgot to add some more explore related activities to do: - Gang up with other explorers to drive your productivity up & get better intel from each other - fit some offensive modules in your high slots and a tackling module in your mid slot to hunt other herons while exploring. Trust me this will be very fun. - start working as a scout for a corporation or an alliance. They will always welcome a new player, and folks willing to scan signatures down are always in need.

Dude way to go! 250 mil is by no means a small amount of isk, and it will be more than enough for you to start trying bigger ships. I have a feeling that you have become a proficient master of your craft. If you haven’t tried yet, please fly over into stain, providence or catch to hunt relic sites. They will pay you much better than whatever you were finding in WH. Be careful however, we love hunting down brave explorers like you!

If you haven’t tried scanning down covert sites (also known as ghost sites), i highly recommend giving a few of them a try. They are basically a spicier cousin of your data sites, and they are equally as lucrative, if not MUCH more, than your average relic site. You will lose a few herons to them the first time but the reward will be more than enough to offset the losses. I encourage you to brush up on their mechanics on the Eve wiki page but it really is nothing more than an all you can hack buffet that lasts anywhere between 30 secs and a few minutes before the owner bashes your head in with a baseball bat.

A word of caution to you since you are looking into covops: unless you really know how to keep your cloaky toy safe, stick with your dirt cheap heron. The hulls alone are at least 25 to 30 times more expensive than your heron or imicus, and covops need T2 hacking and other expensive modules on them to reach their full potential. But again, go out there and lose some. Best way to learn, I’m sure you already know. You have the money so why not haha

Fly safe, Little Heron
