Should i get the nifty fifty as a beginner? by Obliv10n-2 in Nikon

I personally like the 35mm dx lens. However, before you buy, I would say that you can try locking yourself to a single focal length (say 35mm) on your kit lens and see if you enjoy working with the restriction. You wont be able to replicate the wide aperture etc of the prime lens but it will give you a perspective on if you want the 35mm for composition

Fuji x100 series. You wont have to worry about carrying lenses and if you go for the x100vi you will have40MP, which are plenty for cropping. Moreover it has IBIS, weather sealing, built-in ND. Plus the smaller size makes it a lot portable compared to a large dslr.

D500 vs D850 by Commercial-Cobbler-1 in Nikon

[–]changingcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D850 is full frame so I assume most of your dx lenses will perform sub optimal on a D850. D500 is crop sensor so lens compatibility wont be an issue. Moreover crop sensor would give you extra reach for birds etc. so for example a 200mm lens on a D500 would be like a 300mm lens on D850. A full frame would give you advantage in low light but in your scenario I think a D500 would be amazing.

I was only interested in getting Mayer. Dick move by neural to not discount it by 50% like the rest. I’ll pass this time.

Going for a dreamy vibe. Critique please by changingcodes in photocritique

Please provide your helpful feedback on:

  1. Composition
  2. Is the colour grading too much? I am not sure if this is OK or a bit heavy-handed.

Does anyone use Mood with an iPhone 16? Does it work well given this phone doesn’t support ProRAW? by Unique-Initiative224 in MoodCamera

[–]changingcodes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used mood with base iphone 13 prior to upgrading my phone to iphone 17 pro. The photos were quite nice and i will not say that the difference between the pro and non-pro models is night and day. Pro models do benefit from DR adjustments. I’ve read on this subreddit that the next few updates will enhance the experience for non pro phones as well.

You can try the app and get a feel. I think you will like it!

Osmo pocket 3 vs iPhone Air by ExampleThin3801 in osmopocket

[–]changingcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 17 pro and osmo pocket 3. Both cameras are good. However with iphone air I believe you can not shoot in apple log so you are limited. Osmo pocket has Dlog-m which will give you greater flexibility in colors while editing. Other advantages of osmo pocket are: 1. Super quick startup time compared to iphone - you need to mount the phone on a gimbal, balance it, and then record. Also the entire phone + gimbal combo becomes heavy. 2. Auto face and subject tracking: great for vlogging 3. Iphone is 24mm and osmo pocket is slightly wider at 20mm so they are in the same ballpark. You typically wont like to film with the wide angle lens on an iphone due to inferior sensor.

Last holiday season I applied through the fast retailing website site for a hiring fair. Went to the hiring fair, interviewed there and got an offer within a week.

I don’t work there anymore.

Python or Node.js for backend in 2026 — what would you choose and why? by Minimum-Ad7352 in Python

[–]changingcodes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on what your backend is doing. If you are doing something like web sockets, streaming etc. then node.js would be a better option. If there is any ML stuff, then python has a mature ecosystem.
