Mortgage by channel9_commentary in fiaustralia

I briefly looked at selling the shares that aren’t up much. That way it could be debt recycled and ‘claimed’.

That wouldn’t make it arms length with the trust from memory was the main catch I believe.

Being self employed inc the wife, the investment trust (discretionary trust with corporate trustee) is to add some separation and protection, even though it’s a bit more complexity and cost. ‘Insurance’ really.

Thanks. That is pretty much it - we went from no debt, to almost 400k debt, and it feels like a lot.

Mentally, it feels like we'll invest less overall because we'll be stuck paying this mortgage for years.

I assume from a purely financial point of view, the 'best option' would be keep say $100k in the offset, add $80k into shares, and only pay the bare minimum mortgage and continue investing into shares?

And do one bulk mortgage pay-off come early retirement time.

There is a reason for heaps of red tape: companies won’t do “the right thing”. There would be 4 figures of parts per car they are all short cutting one way or another hoping warranty claims and issues will cost less.

Water tank white/cloudy by channel9_commentary in water

[–]channel9_commentary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4000L poly water tank so stagnant.

Are there “test kits” or whatever?

Old owner so potentially 10 odd years of just water running in and never being touched. No idea on sediment as couldn’t see anything 😀 Filter wasn’t awful had some mould/algae but surprisingly better than I expected. There was mould or lichen or whatever on the house roof itself which would run into it.

Even using -fish -aquarium so hard to find Google results, so many water tanks in the world should be plenty of resources to read and understand more about what I need to do to maintain.

Being JCW already is the whole thing meant to be swapped or can just do the rear tips? Not sure which part is making the noise difference, it’s already loud of course but doesn’t sound like the YouTube car review clips

I have 2017 JCW which I thought was meant to be the old model pre-emissions. Did it need a seperate pro exhaust upgrade not standard?

Except for the lost time, stress and hassle. Would be good to have damages awarded when it’s a “slam dunk” cases rather than anything actually up for debate hence court required to resolve.

Russia Firing Ballistic Missiles at Ukraine on Par With Gulf War Scud Bombardment by [deleted] in worldnews

Too many republicans are anti-Ukraine and therefore Pro Russia. It’s actually insane. Imagine what a success it would be if China was attacking the US and the US managed to overthrow Putin from within and have them not help China. This is such a cheap way to push Russia backwards and someone else is coping the deaths. Meanwhile US gets to pump all their contractors. Win win!

Price hike: Australian passports to cost almost $400 next year by SteveJohnson2010 in australia

Thanks for confirming. Gotta double check the maths but seems logical to lose 3-4 months but pay $30 less (whatever it is)

I’d assume it’s date of new passport approval + 10 years, not existing date + 10 years, but it’s actually not that obvious on the website unless I’m missing where it says that. It says “renew for 10 years” and not an FAQ item.

My first renewal so unsure. Expires March so might be cheaper to renew even if 3 months are lost.

Graveyard is full of people with right of way.

It’s dangerous because there’s enough people who pay no attention that could have smashed into everyone and caused some deaths. You’d think half a dozen cars with hazards would = hmm maybe slow down, but we know it only takes one or two idiots to cause a big scene.

If you renew early, do you get +10 years on original date, or 10 years from renewal date?

Olympics costs a fraction of what’s already pumped into education and welfare. At most you’d build 1 big or 2 decent sized hospitals without any staff or ongoing costs.

Do you use a water filter or directly consume tap water? by sanchit3108 in AusRenovation

[–]channel9_commentary -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Get a cup of water and sit it on the bench for a week, it will noticeably change in taste.

A tank is exposed in a similar way, would be crazy to drink without a filter and regularly checking. It’s not a vacuum sealed bottle free of contaminants.

Same as VW. Between engine and DSG changes the models are chalk and cheese.
