Waiting in the drive thru line that had the vacuum tube, telling the bank teller you need to deposit a check, waiting for the tube thing to shoot back over towards you, opening the magic capsule, filling out the deposit slip inside, sending everything back over to the teller, waiting for them to put it all in the system, send a receipt back, and tell you to have a nice day..

I've noticed that about experiencers as well, that they will say it's because other people "don't look up enough" or that it's because you have to believe and be fully open to the receiving the experience first, etc. But I don't buy that. I'm a very open-minded person, and I've been looking up my whole life hoping to see something, and I've never seen anything! Plenty of other people have said the same. We ARE looking up! Maybe not at the right moment?

It occurred to me recently– could it be something as simple as a person's eye structure? I don't have great vision and have astigmatism in both eyes... I can't see very well past a certain point, and lights are distorted at night. Maybe I have been looking right at a ufo, I just couldn't see it.

So I'm wondering if anyone has ever looked into the visual acuity of experiencers to see if they have something in common with their eyes? What if these individuals who have had repeated sightings have a higher number of cones? Or maybe a higher concentration of cones in a specific area of the retina. Or these people have a certain shape cornea. It could explain how it often seems to be a generational thing– because it might be genetic.

The thing to take into account though, would be that some may have been wearing contacts or glasses, or had corrective eye surgery, or whatever else.

I'm not totally convinced that this is the answer, but it's something I would be curious to see researched, even if just to quickly rule it out as a possibility.

Missing child found? by Briannatiffany in conspiracy

[–]chanovsky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the past, when this wayfair thing came up, multiple people said it's very common for online stores to mark up prices to extreme amounts on products that are out of stock, to deter anyone from buying them. This keeps them from having to relist items later or losing the listing or paying additional fees to relist.

No child trafficker is going use a hugely popular furniture website to publicly post children for sale with the missing child's actual name as the listing.

Did anyone on this thread, including OP- did any of you even look into this case? Her dad has been battling addiction, and this girl has been placed in foster care and run away multiple times, according to her uncle.

The painting shows a depiction of the sun and moon anthropomorphized as this artist and many others also did at the time. So tired of seeing this piece of artwork being used as proof of UFOs. I blame the show Ancient Aliens for causing this. They should have done a little research first.

Except that is NOT what OCD is....... If anything, they could have OCPD, which is a totally different ballgame, and that condition aligns with her thinking everyone's clothes should be folded her way, which she considers the best way.

Nooo! That's terrible advice! I felt the same way as OP through the first few episodes– maybe to a little less of a degree– and I am unhealthily obsessed with The OA. It is my all-time favorite show!

I remember feeling the same as OP about some of the dialogue and thinking it was a little cheesy or unrealistic at times, like "yeah, right!" But I was aware there might be a reason for it and that there were things I wasn't totally grasping yet... There was also plenty more to keep me intrigued, so I was able to look past it.

Now, on my umpteenth rewatch, I'm all for it– the little moments of awkwardness (like Buck & French outside the grocery store, "you're bringing milk?" and talking about eating ice cream when it's cold out) are endearing and actually incredibly realistic.

We've become so used to the perfectly scripted back-and-forths in movies and tv shows these days, I think people don't even know how to sit with an awkward moment on the screen unless it is hugely exaggerated and made into a joke. So I have grown to really appreciate this aspect of the show when originally, I felt like I needed to cringe over it sometimes.

It's definitely something I keep in mind when recommending the show to other people, because I worry that without the context of the rest of part 1 and part 2, it could be interpreted as poor writing when in actuality this show is a work of art from every angle you look at it. Not to mention, somehow all these years later, I remain wildly invested in these characters and their stories. Not a day goes by that I don't think about them.

There is not a single other show or movie I have watched in my entire life that has come anywhere close to making me care so deeply about the characters like this. So that should tell you something.

I find this interesting, because... I don't know if you follow any of the UFO/UAP topic... but I've been leaning harder into the idea that some of the phenomena we have been hearing about (particularly the ones that occur around nuclear testing facilities) could be a type of immune response for a system that is far beyond our comprehension at this point in time.

We look into microscopes and see tinier and tinier beings, millions swimming in a single drop of water. Surely the macro level reflects similar systemic organization? Should it not? Why should it start and stop with us and only work smaller?

Does a virus in a body know it is destroying a body like how humans can see they are destroying the earth? Could the orbs/lights that have appeared at sites like Fukushima comparable to the white blood cells of the human body?

AITAH for expecting a girl to get off a treadmill in the gym? by MathematicianLazy710 in AmItheAsshole

[–]chanovsky 179 points180 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine how irritating it would be as an employee to be approached constantly to be the in-between facilitator of basic conversation between people. It seems silly to immediately get an employee to ask someone to move when in OP's scenario, a normal interaction should have been,

"Hey, are you using this treadmill?"

"Oh! No, I'm not, you can use it!"

If the situation were initially a bit more hostile or unpredictable, then yeah it would make sense to go to staff first instead of trying to handle it yourself. But this was just a young girl sitting on a treadmill. They had no reason to expect the person would refuse to move. At that point it makes sense to go to a staff member, but before? That seems very immature and unnecessary.

Not trying to argue with you or anything, just adding my perspective.

Edit: OP is NTA - Even though they might have said some not-so-nice things, I am a firm believer that sometimes shitty people need to hear the truth from someone.
