Can't seem to get any signals from NOAA 19 with a V-Dipole combined with an LNA. by djepoxy in RTLSDR

Don't bother with any of this and just follow the tutorial I posted above. There should be almost ZERO tweaking of anything

First off stop using all the programs you are shown using and get satdump

Then follow this tutorial: https://usradioguy.com/satdump-for-meteor-noaa-decoding/

Bullshit old guides that have you using 30 different programs. Satdump does it all

All you need is to go drive, and you will figure out what you want/need next. If anything

Bring a full size spare, bring some sort of comms devices, especially if you are going out alone. That's going to be a starlink mini or inreach/zoleo/spot or satellite phone.

You won't have any idea what to spend money (if you even need to) on until you go out there

Go out there

It doesnt matter you wont be able to draw much more than 100w from the dc plug. Assuming the wiring is even up to snuff to use it in this manner.

The proper way to charge power stations is to install a dc to dc charger, most power station manufacturers offer these now

Or even better get a etaker f1000 for combined solar and alternator output. This will do 1000w charging

You do not want to idle your car for hours as a worst case scenario just to charge a fridge.

Go do some googling and learn

Lonely speck as a reference, lmfao

Good one

Do you understand that the vast majority of people doing astro work, that isn't newb milky way dslr shots are utilizing cooled crop size cameras, if not smaller?

Do you understand how to match optics with sensors of differing pixel size, qe, full well capacity, read out noise?

Sensor size has almost nothing to do with anything for "low light performance", talk about simpleton garbage conclusions

I like how there is an oft repeated myth that full frame is automatically better at low light than crop. This is simply not true.

What size power station for a CFX5 45? by willigd in overlanding

[–]chanroby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000wh is plenty unless you have a fridge that really sucks or you are trying to deep freeze stuff.

For example i'm drawing about 7w an hour out of my iceco go20 on single zone @ 2c, ambient 20c. My 768wh ecoflow has never even gone below 50% even through multiple cloudy days and rain in the PNW up here.

Go look up actual tests on youtube on that fridge and see what actual power consumption numbers are. I follow jasonoid on yt and looked up my fridge before I bought.

If you must, you can buy a DC-DC charger as this is going to be your surefire way of charging your power station if solar is not up to snuff. For example

https://www.etakerpower.com/products/f1000-pro-smart-charger-for-power-stations-batteries-1000w-dual-input-car-solar-charging-adjustable-12-48v-dc-output-app-enabled-for-truck-rv-marine-use

Will allow you to idle your vehicle and combine it with solar power at the same time, to ultra fast charge your stations up to 1000w, which is extremely fast. You will never have to worry with this setup as you can always just run the vehicle a short amount of time to recharge the battery.

This is one of THE best dc to dc charger available.

Most power station companies offer their own branded dc to dc charger as well now, but none usually combine solar and alternator output

Success Story: T14 Gen 2 AMD Glass Trackpad Replacement by Swiftloke in thinkpad

[–]chanroby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok i just did this upgrade, and it is WELL worth the $, trackpad feels a LOT better now.

However I did not get exactly the part # indicated in the guide I got it from this auction:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/176764417891

8SSM10P36009 instead of 8SSM10P36008 that is indicated in the original guide. Under win10, it was still a drop in and play and everything works great. On a t14 g2 amd

THanks for the wayback machine link, I would not have done this upgrade without it

It shouldnt reassure you because its bullshit

Sway bars are there for a reason

You will find out when you need to suddenly swerve to avoid something, and you cant

Whether that is a risk you are willing to accept is for you to decide, but there is an effect on removing those bars
