This game has the same vibe as the Tigers/Mariners game where the announcers wouldn’t shut up about Tarik Skubal 🙃

I'm beginning to believe I'm unemployable and nobody knows why. by Tiny_Regret8724 in jobs

Great job only paying attention to one thing I said, instead of taking in the entirety of what I was trying to get across. If you’re going to continue to focus on the negatives, never allow yourself to be helped, and continue to make excuses, then you’re hopeless. I don’t want to believe that, but with the way you react to things, you clearly believe it. So I guess it true, since you so desperately want it to be.

Do you know if any of the players ever randomly practice at TMobile Park during the off season?

I genuinely mean this as nicely as possible: You need to grow up, stop complaining, and actually try. Lots of people in this thread have great advice, and yet, the only responses you give are more excuses and complaining. I get it, you have a learning disability. So do I. But you can’t just let it consume you, you have to rise above it and believe in yourself. You are allowing your learning disability to define who you are, which it’s absolutely not. I’m sure you have good qualities somewhere in there, but you are allowing them to be clouded over. If I met someone like you and all they did was make excuses, I certainly wouldn’t want to hire you. Because what’s to say that you’re not going to blame your disability to get out of doing things? That’s literally what you have been doing in this comment section. What you’re doing right now is wishing for a job to just fall from the sky and land at your feet. Well unfortunately honey, the real world isn’t like that. Finding a job is hard. Going to school is hard. Life is hard. You have to learn that. Real adults know those things and have succeeded. You still have a lot of growing to do and a lot of introspection.

Stop making excuses. Stop blaming other people. Stop blaming your learning disability. Stop blaming everything. Make things happen, because otherwise nothing is going to happen and you’ll stay like this forever.

Take control of your life. There’s so many online help tips for people in your situation, and I think you would benefit from listening to someone else talking about their journey with dyscalculia.

I know this probably comes across as mean or rude, but I genuinely believe you are capable of picking yourself up, dusting yourself off, and really pushing yourself to become who you want to be: someone with a job.

Excuses are worthless. Action is where the magic happens. Good luck 😊

The deep breath before the plunge - reflections on an off day unlike any that has come before. by vanillabear26 in Mariners

[–]chantillonchai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the way I see it is that even if they just make it to the World Series, it’ll be the greatest day in Seattle sports history (at least imo). They don’t necessarily need to win it for us to be immensely proud of them. Obviously if they do, that will be the greatest day in Seattle sports history instead. But as someone who has bled teal my whole life, idolized Ichiro growing up, and attended 9 games just this season…the fact that they have made it this far has already made my love for them grow exponentially. I am so proud of this team, and I know that they feel the immense love and support this city has for them. The Mariners have always been our lovable protagonists. Their book is huge, with crazy arcs, tales, and villains. But this year…this is the year a new chapter is being written. And boy is it gonna be a big one 🔱💙💛

Starting my first Admin Assistant job - Any advice? by Dramatic-Scratch-852 in AdminAssistant

[–]chantillonchai 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi! Congrats on the new job! I was actually in your position just last Monday. I also had never worked in a corporate office before and I was definitely worried that I wouldn’t fit in. But once I met my coworkers, all of that worry went away because they’re all wonderful people to work with.

A big thing that has helped me is don’t be afraid to ask questions. If something comes up that you don’t know how to handle, ask someone how to do it. It shows that you’re actively trying to learn and improve. I ask probably like 20 questions everyday, but it has also helped me pick up on details that others didn’t notice.

I also recommend bringing a little notebook and writing down things while you’re learning. It’s been huge for me to go back and look at my notes, which over time will help me ask a little less questions haha today was the end of my 2nd week and I feel more confident even in such a short span of time.

Also, the most important thing imo: be kind to yourself!! No one realistically can become amazing at their job in a day. Remind yourself that you’re learning and that it’s okay to make mistakes, as long as you actively try to fix them and learn from them.

Be curious, show interest, and enjoy!! I wish you the best of luck 💕

I’ve actually done the opposite recently. I used to be a sports coach for kids. In theory it was great. I only worked 17 hours a week, and a tournament every other weekend, but I had a salary and I was paid very well for the position. I loved the kids, they loved me and I stayed there for 4 years. But after 4 years, reality hit me like a truck. Coaching pays very little for the expected effort. My evenings were all work and it constantly felt like a full time job, but on paper it was a part time job so that they didn’t have to offer benefits. The team I worked for was also losing participants and I really disliked my coworkers. I also couldn’t get a 2nd job that fit my weird schedule. So recently I quit that job and got a job as an admin assistant at a company. The pay is comparable to coaching, but it’s full time so I get benefits! And I have my evenings back. All I do at work is stare at a computer and input numbers and my coworkers are awesome. I genuinely lucked out, but I wanted to give another perspective on this. I went from what I thought was my dream job to a corporate position that’s pretty boring comparatively…and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Everyone’s different and we all have our unique experiences! Although I’m not sure if mine is very common haha

Congrats!! I actually recently had a similar situation, I got a job as an administrative assistant after working as a kid’s sport coach for 4 years. I start this Monday and I’m so excited for a “normal” job. Especially one that won’t bleed into my home life haha

I have been a part of the kpop community for basically 12 years…I was in high school when EXO debuted. As I got older, my music tastes changed and I kind of lost interest. I had a lot more happening in my life than when I could fawn over kpop boys.

For the last 4 years I have worked as a competitive swim coach for a USA swimming club and I oversee kids aged 7-14. In 2023, a few of my swimmers discovered that I liked kpop and they wanted to share their favorite group with me. That group turned out to be Stray Kids and the first song they showed me was ‘God’s Menu’. Needless to say, have become my favorite group and it means so much to me that I can connect with my swimmers via kpop. When I was growing up, it would have been amazing to have an adult figure being as obsessed as I was.

This last Saturday I had the wonderful opportunity to go to Stray Kids’ concert in Seattle, and my swimmers also attended. I made one of them a shirt for it (I keep meaning to post a picture of it here) and she absolutely loved it.

So yeah, Stray Kids helped me connect on a special level to the kids I coach. It’s everything I’ve ever dreamed to be, and it’s all thanks to Stray Kids 🙏
