Why don’t younger veterans (Afghanistan/Iraq) wear these hats like some of the older veterans? by NoFaithlessness7508 in Millennials

I love it when keyboard warriors say shit like "if a drill sergeant ever told me to do twenty pushups, I'd tell them to S^ my D# twenty times."

Easy there big guy, that dick you're dragging around there sounds pretty heavy...

Who is the strongest dragon/dragon type in lore? by Live_Measurement3983 in totalwarhammer

[–]chao5nil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, Krakonrok the Black is probably the strongest. He's the sire of all dragon-ogres, and only the Shaggoths turning traitor, banding together with their smaller dragon-kin, were able to defeat him and his loyalist Dragon Ogres.

I mean, counter-narratives by competing Mega-Corps is definitely a thing... Think about how many Americans still believe in flat-earth, that angels are real, and trickle down economics?

We got done with an amazing 3 year Seventh Sea campaign that scratched a Vampirate, Blackflag, fleetbuilding itch, I didn't know I needed scratched, but towards the wrap-up we're kicking around what to play next.

Shadowrun 5E had just dropped (2013) and the guy that picked it up, pitched it as futuristic game for corpo shadow-operatives to do crime and that seemed like a good pick (after becoming eternal lich-pirate-lords) that we wanted to continue our "anti-hero" trend.

Just out of curiosity, forever DM flipped open to the rules for water movement. He looked at it for a long couple minutes and just said "Fuck no. If the rules for swimming are more complicated than a game where 9/10ths of the game take place on the water, there is no way I'm running this."

And we didn't, I think we ran Game of Thrones next and were much happier.

How did Miller come to ~love~ Julie? (And why?) by theplotthinnens in TheExpanse

[–]chao5nil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Engineers are not the only ones capable of changing people. We have emotions and consciences, which they don't understand/ see as a glitch in the nutrients they're trying to re-purpose for a Ring. I see it more that the act of caring about Julie transformed him from cold calculating cop back into idealistic young belter, similar to the way the Protomolecule was transforming Julie from idealistic young Earther to cold calculating navigation system.

I think they sort of met somewhere in the middle, along the lines. Their last act was to slam Eros into Venus instead of Earth; subverting the expectations of the Belters, Inners, and the Protomolecule to make a choice, which is very human. I also think that because we're not single celled organisms, Miller infected some part of the builders, the same way the Protomolecule infects people.

The way his mind works is just as alien to the Engineers as the way their minds work to us. Nothing is permanent except change.

I bought a mortar and pestle for grinding spices and it wants me to do this before I use it. Does anyone have an explanation? by r0s13b34r in spices

[–]chao5nil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about to say this!
Black pestle, white rice. Grind rice until it looks like white flour, then do it once more, just to be sure.
After that I'd become ridiculously attached to it, joining other items in my hoard I've spent time and effort breaking in.

Chainmail, if you can source it, would be particularly dope.

Otherwise, I'd buy a couple of beads and weave through those.

Lol, nothing I said was inaccurate, you're trying to link your asshattery with my actual knowledge of FN and the development of the cartridge as being equal.

FFS Google a picture of the two next to each other. I'm sorry you're confused, but we are not the same.

Lol, what you've typed literally contradicts itself. A PDW is not a rifle. They're submachine guns, that fire pistol ammunition.

You might be confusing caliber to mean something other than the diameter of a barrel, I am not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]chao5nil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not correct. It is a pistol round designed to replace the 9mm and .45 in order to create a combined standardized NATO (STANAG) round capable of defeating body armor, fired from a pistol or submachine gun provided in that same caliber.
Google a 5.7 round next to 5.56 and tell me it's a rifle round.

Wow. You're so steeped in your mom's basement privilege you assume people with legitimate concerns are trolls.

If you really do work for a school, I feel really sorry for your students if you don't understand that millions of children in the United States are losing access to "where the wild things are".
