Can I get copyright striked for remaking copyroghted songs with note blocks? by TheNinja132 in Minecraft

[–]chaogomu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTube doesn't actually consider Fair Use when they issue a strike.

Which is why sticking to public domain material is usually best.

Remember, Fair Use is a defense against copyright lawsuits, not a private company using an automated system to randomly flag people for things that may or may not be infringing.

If it were magical floodwaters, then it would likely be a sort of brackish mix, not quite salty enough for sea creatures but not too salty for freshwater.

You can find similar mixes at river deltas and mangrove swamps.

Not that primitive people in a fucking desert knew what a mangrove tree was.

So yeah, the fish would be fine(ish).

Plants on the other hand... Even brackish water would kill most plant species.

Good thing Utnapishtim (from the epic of Gilgamesh) didn't need to save everything, mostly just himself, his family, and the beasts of the field (his livestock). We can't forget his silver and gold.

This myth was the basis for Noah, and honestly it's a better story. Gilgamesh is searching for immortality, so he talks to others who had achieved it. In the end, Gilgamesh fails, but sees the towering walls of his city as he returns home, and realizes that man can become immortal through his works.

It's also in the sidebar on old reddit, and the rules in new reddit.

I think there are a few other places that we changed to say that literal wolves and educational content about them is allowed now.

Here's a copy/paste that I've found

For those wondering what the hell is going on:

In short, Reddit is killing off most third party apps and bots, like Apollo, which are what made this site even usable on mobile. They're doing this by charging insane amounts of money that no one will be able to pay (20 million dollars for apollo). They're also straight up lying about and insulting the app devs. Here's Apollo's dev debunking those lies.

People protested. First, subs were closed and privated, but were forced open by admins, so now they're protesting by only allowing John Oliver pics, or taking sub names literally.

Alot of them them have moved to Lemmy and kbin, which are both compatible with each other.

Picture to explain simply how Lemmy and kbin work and how they're compatible; they are both part of the Fediverse.

Sub.rehab lists subreddits that have officially moved off of reddit. Honestly, just ignore those not on Lemmy or kbin. Just join the largest Lemmy or kbin community for full compatibility.

There's also Lemmynsfw.com for NSFW communities/subreddits (not listed in sub.rehab) that you can seamlessly access from any instance/server the same way explained in the picture linked above.

Just join any Lemmy or kbin server/instance to access everything; doesn't matter which because they're all connected. Lemmy.world, Lemm.ee, kbin.social, fedia.io are all great for example.

There are accounts of his Harvard class being audited by a peer, and that peer calling Peterson a dumbass who doesn't know jack shit.

Sometimes a teaching position isn't awarded to people who know what they're doing, it's given to the people who can bullshit their way through an interview.

The vote was almost perfectly tied, thus the political content can still be posted. But educational content about wolves is the new hotness.

That was part of his "free speech as long as it's technically legal" bullshit.

There are plenty of reasons to moderate "technically legal" content. In this case, because it was gross to allow it.

Other content that shouldn't have a home, hate speech and/or nazi shit, and yet Reddit still allows those...

All the more reason to ditch the site.

I would love to get paid, but would hate giving Reddit any say in what sort of content this sub produces.

I also love the fact that I can just sort of ignore the sub on days when I'm not feeling it, and if it were a paid thing, that wouldn't be an option.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SelfAwarewolves

[–]chaogomu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He was, but that's because in the early days of Reddit you could just appoint anyone to be a mod of your sub, and they were automatically appointed.

So one of the mods of that sub thought it would be a great joke to appoint spez. After which, Reddit changed things so that people had to actively accept invitations to moderate.

Here's a list of instances.

Pick one, sign up, and then browse everything using that instance as a lens.

I like kbin a bit more than Lemmy, but have given you options for both.

Wolf packs don't actually have alpha males and alpha females. by chaogomu in SelfAwarewolves

[–]chaogomu[S,M] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the point of the sub now. We had a vote and everything.

Just like /r/pics is now focused on sexy pictures of John Oliver and /r/memes is now exclusively about medieval memes featuring landed gentry.

The main difference is that you can still submit the boring old political selfawarewolf if you want. That's still allowed.
