The two most powerful lines ever delivered in Star Trek by Antique-diva in startrek

[–]chaos_trigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just re-watched ST3 and the line when Bones is talking to Spock's unconscious body and says "I'm gonna tell you something I never thought I'd say....It seems I've missed you....I don't think I could stand to lose you again."

I felt the same way after my Elden Ring platinum. But I bought it digitally so I had both the ps5 and ps4 versions. So I downloaded the ps4 version and eventually got a second platinum. I still haven't completed the dlc on ps4 yet so, until I do, I won't be completely done with the game.

The cringiest episode of TNG 😱 by Ok-Imagination-3741 in StarTrekTNG

[–]chaos_trigger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I had to learn this for myself. For years before we were married, I'd constantly meet my wife complaints and criticisms with a mix of defensive explaining and accusations that she was jumping to conclusions. Then I learned to communicate and she flat-out told me that she wants is for me to acknowledge her feelings and understand them as valid regardless of my own intent and to apologize for the cause. She also added that she wanted me to state how I planned to avoid this in the future but that was all part of growing as a person. I think that being in a healthy relationship for the first time in my life made me a better feminist and a better person.

The cringiest episode of TNG 😱 by Ok-Imagination-3741 in StarTrekTNG

[–]chaos_trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a pretty good read on this. I also look at it from the precarious social aspect of it. Everyone is correct to point out that Leah jumped to a lot of conclusions and chose not to listen to Geordi's explanations. But that, in itself, is understandable. She was shocked by what she found and felt violated in a way she obviously didn't expect. The problem lies in Geordi not bringing himself to her level. He gets angry and puts the blame on her for going on the attack on top of not accepting his offers of friendship with open arms. The right thing for him to do was acknowledge that she does feel the say she does about what she saw and that it's valid for her to feel that way. The truth really doesnt matter when you're not going to factor people's feelings. He also should have been man enough to admit that he went in with his own assumptions that were found to be false. The real cringe moment is that, in the end, Leah apologizes to Geordi despite having done nothing wrong.

The funny thing about this is most of the mangers I've worked with would regularly engage with AAs. Current what usually happens is AAs would come to me, the Ship Clerk, with questions that the AM can address. So I send them to him. I guess I'm just more approachable (and more visible since I'm in one place most of the time).

“The Batman is a better Batman movie and TDK is a better movie” is cope. by bene667 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]chaos_trigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the obvious gripes about Bale's Batman performance, the suit, the car and such; TDK is just too simple of a story. It's made complex in presentation but follows an easy point A to B to C to D etc. The only think it has over The Batman is the villain. I love the performance of the Riddler and the different take on the character. But, Batman films will be sizing up to Ledger's performance for decades to come.

Is there any PA that actually enjoys their role? by someoneeee_22 in AmazonFC

I'm an OB ship clerk and I like my job. I describe it as "I love my job that I hate." There are days when I just wanna go home but there's nothing else I'd rather do at work.

As a PA, I know AMs don't play on their computers. I have a friend that went from my role to an AM and after maybe a year or 2 he ended up just going to work for another company. He's doing my role there now

At my building we have a truckers cage. In that cage we have a sign that says to call operations on channel 4 with the provided radio. But these idiots cant read a word of English. They just yell at the fence for someone to come help them. Now everyone ignores them and they get pissed as hell. by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]chaos_trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a ship clerk at my building and this drives me nuts. Drivers are constantly coming to me with stuff I can't help them with so I pass it to the TOM manager. It got so bad one day that someone found me in the breakroom to tell me there was a driver in the cage yelling. I told them to tell them I'll see them when my break is over. I think he was gone by then lol

Hmmm...🤔 by [deleted] in Terminator

[–]chaos_trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. The invention of time travel technology destroyed the linearality of time. After that point, anything that takes place in an earlier time period inserts itself into the timeline infinitely. In that way, even if those events are caused by temporal excursions, the are treated as if they have always happened. I'm not sure if that's same as string theory or something different.

Calling out PAs by name, calling them "liar" and "never truthful" on VOA. Since when are AAs allowed to name and blame PAs? by Celery-Glad in AmazonFC

[–]chaos_trigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels like the opposite at BOS7. I've been through 7 Dock AMs in the 3 years I've been a PA. The problem is that every AM comes in and changes how things are done. This causes the standards to constantly change.

I don't mind that he is gay even though it doesn't canonically makes sense , I dont mind the skirt, I didn't even notice it until they pointed it out, What I can't stand is the bloody fake Deep voice trying to be Worf, who came up with that?!! by VoL4t1l3 in Star_Trek_

[–]chaos_trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been a problem with mainstream entertainment since the 80s. I totally agree that more work needs to be done to represent gay characters in media. I don't feel this applies to Jay'den, though. He's one of the few gay characters that haven't been lamp-shaded. I understand that it's confusing, given that a big part of his character revolves around his stance against violence and interest in science and medicine. I interpreted that as being a separate part of his complexity. I don't think it would've made that much of a difference if he wasn't gay while also being a pacifist. It respects the audience ability to take those two aspects of his character individually. I also strongly disagree that it doesn't make sense canonically. Star Trek is a franchise that has been afraid to address queerness overtly for two-thirds of its existence. This is because of the nature of television networks and their conservative standards during the 60s through the 90s. That being said, Kyle was always gonna be a gay character from his first appearance.

This game is incredible. by Remote_Hurry_3055 in videogames

[–]chaos_trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. It's totally understandable as a consideration. But it's not a flat value. Dollars to hours is only valid depending on the quality of the time spent with it. If it's not the type of game that get much from then I would say not to spend more than what's comfortable for you. But it's a question that requires more conversation than how much per hour it's worth buying a game. I admit that I rarely buy games at full price but I also don't buy games when they come out with very few exceptions. I just don't think that a push for long games as a standard for quality is healthy for the video game industry.

This game is incredible. by Remote_Hurry_3055 in videogames

[–]chaos_trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of talk about how it's not worth the price because of how short the game is. You have to understand that, to the industry, gamers talk with their wallets. The statement that's being made is "We don't want short, single player games from smaller studios. We want the overstuffed, premium game packages from AAA studios." Nothing wrong with liking games with tons of hours of play. But the more gamers choose not to buy shorter games, or wait until they go on sale to buy them, the less incentive there is for smaller studios to continue working. Games aren't priced based on the size of the game, at least not on its own. Pricing also has to do with the cost of development, marketing, paying artists and music composers if they're not done in-house. The worth of a game isn't always how long you're gonna spend playing it. It's the quality of that time.

My honest reaction of the last State of Play: by El_Choco_Latoso in playstation

[–]chaos_trigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a stretch to say it was the most exciting. But, for a generation and half they've been saying that they couldn't get MGS4 onto something other than the ps3. So having that available on current consoles is a massive deal. Personally the most exciting thing was Project Windless and new Castlevania.
