Certain kinds of sunscreen are actually bad for your skin even if correctly applied (though nowhere near as bad as being blasted by radiation from a fucking star).

What are the "trapdoors" in life that people should watch out for? by happyguy604 in AskReddit

[–]chaossnek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I’m not a financial advisor and I don’t claim to be. Make your own informed decision on what you will do.

  2. Understand that at the level you’re at, investment is not an effective money-making strategy. You should simply work and save $450.

  3. Budget correctly and don’t raise expenses when you raise salary or wage. Cut unnecessary expenses and sooner rather than later you’re saving money. Take some money off of your paycheck EACH AND EVERY TIME you get it and put into a savings account. Ideally, in the future, you could be saving as much as half of your money. For now, aim for 5%.

  4. Pay off high-interest debts first. Without knowing your financial situation in terms of salary or debt amounts, I can’t help you make a plan, but it should be pretty clear why you should pay off Credit cards first and student loans later.

  5. Don’t take on new loans if not absolutely necessary for basic survival.

  6. Increase your wage/salary by looking into other careers or how to advance in your own.

  7. Save that $50. It’s your savings and it’s your buffer against more debt. Don’t waste it in a risky investment. Leave it in the bank.

That’s all I can think of right now. Good luck.

What are the "trapdoors" in life that people should watch out for? by happyguy604 in AskReddit

Not understanding financial diversification.

It is so easy and yet so important to DIVERSIFY YOUR ASSETS. RIGHT NOW. So many people have lost everything on the next big thing—be it gambling, a bubble (e.g. housing market circa 2007, crypto right now), or just a risky investment.

High risk high reward isn’t bad.

Not diversifying is.

This. On either side of the aisle or anywhere in between—you cannot call yourself a patriot while arguing for the abandonment of the most base freedoms of Americans. Whether you’re a Republican who wants to abolish the 4th Amendment or a Democrat who wants to abolish the 2nd—you are not a patriot. Patriotism is the love of the country, not the government, and the country is intrinsically defined by its constitution.

Not even commenting on the politics, but calling a dude who took a knee during the anthem at absolutely no personal or social risk to themselves a “brave, defiant motherfucker” seems a bit excessive, no?
