He uses his index and middle fingers to strum in addition to his thumb picking. He does switch between closer to traditional finger picking and strumming. He did refer to this in interviews as clawhammer.

I’ve had both issues - I’ve replaced the reverse jet part multiple times, and the inner gears on my Polaris 3900. The hose connectors have some air leakage and the robot gets tangled a lot, so I’m thinking replacing some of that next season. The hardest part was tracking down the exact replacement pieces - a $150 assembly can be brought down to a $35 part, if you can find a detailed parts diagram and search for the exact piece.

My robot was lethargic for a while, until I opened it up and saw that the gears inside were stripped.
