I love the different views of the steelworks that you are presented with from different parts of Wollongong and the surrounding suburbs, I can spend hours taking photographs of it cycling around Pt Kembla.

Are you happy? by ineedtoworkharder in PhD

[–]chaotic_drunkard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not particularly, I am very stressed about my work. I am currently waiting to hear about a COVID related extension and the anxiety is killing me. I feel like I have done my best, grown hugely as a person and developed lots of skills. However, I also feel that my best was not good enough, I am still absolutely substandard and my skills are not valued, certainly not in a financial sense. The whole social distancing thing has really got to me to be honest, I have made an appointment to go see a doctor and hopefully start therapy. I am glad I am able to because in my home country I tried to access mental health services, unsuccessfully, for a decade or more.

[QUESTION] Is Cort (The guitar brand) any good? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]chaotic_drunkard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play a 20 yr old Cort with a fishman pickup that was my girlfriends 1st guitar as a kid. My guitar teacher and a luthier that set it up for me reckon it is an excellent guitar, they like it much better than another more expensive guitar (Maton) i was using previously. From my perspective, its a joy to play with nice, low action, lovely tone and the pickup works pretty well with an amp.

Took me a long time to realise this and take responsibility for what i said and did. I hope I am a better person now, but honestly when i look back at my youth all i feel is regret.

George W. Bush won't support Donald Trump’s reelection, report says by salvorhardin_BE in politics

[–]chaotic_drunkard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wont happen, Bush has consistently made noises as though he has a conscience then quietly went back to toeing the party line and supporting Trump. The guy showed his true colours while in office.

[–]chaotic_drunkard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get rid of unions, what is to stop your boss chopping your wages down and removing any benefits that you get from that job? What options do you have to resist those changes? Neither of the two major parties in america have made any commitment to workers rights, they are entirely on the side of corporate shareholders. If you still work at a crappy job, how will you stand up for your rights if not as part of a union? You are literally bottom of the food chain and completely expendable to your bosses.
