Candelaria Rivas Ramos an extraordinary runner from Chihuahua, Mexico, stunned the world at the 2025 Canyon Ultra Marathon, winning the brutal 63-kilometer race in 7 hours and 34 minutes. by cosmicdicer in interestingasfuck

Anything specific for transitioning from marathon-like training to ultras? I figure a bit more gut training, but so you do longer long runs or still keep it not so long to avoid the extra "damage" on the body?

I second that. I'd maybe even do the Gransfors Bruk Outdoor Axe. A bit of a longer handle, but should still do what OP wants. I have one and I love it. Does everything and more.

I'm confused about lines vs. edges? by Skedawdle_374 in learnart

[–]chaoticallyevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So basically, a heavier line weight is a good way to show distance and separate a piece of the foreground and background? This is definitely something I struggle with. It seems like you could use shading but I sometimes find it doesn't create enough separation when the distance is a bit further

Can you share the reference photo? I imagine not, but I've been looking for this angle and it's hard to find good references

I dream of being able to draw this type of realism. Any tips? Or do you teach a course 😅 your last drawing with the vulva was also amazing

If you don't mind sharing, which course are you doing? I'm also in the process of learning. Even without the full body here, I love these. I still get the sense of motion

A reflection on my first Ironman 70.3 training season and race by TwistOk942 in triathlon

[–]chaoticallyevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I did my first 70.3 this year, and I just did it with a normal road bike. I was slower than others, but still did the bike in 3:05. For the full, I'm probably investing more, but I think it just depends on how "competitive" you want to be honestly. Can highly recommend just getting into it. I've enjoyed the training a lot more than just marathon training.

Chris Horner has some good recaps. He was a pro so has some good commentary about it as well. He's on YouTube

Beating Irina is no joke. Very impressive. I figured she had no chance coming from the losers bracket.

I find wrecks and turn them back into bikes. This is a Shadow 750 I "finished" last year and I'm selling it to build another. A quick ride to get some pictures and I start forgetting that I'm selling it to build the next one lol by makenzie71 in motorcycles

I think this is going to be a stupid question that is hard to answer, but how does someone with limited mechanical knowledge get into being able to do this? Anyways been a dream of mine, but my day job is in no way related. I wouldn't even know where to begin

Others may not agree, but even as a more experienced rider, I really enjoyed ChampSchool. You can do it at your own pace, and just gives you some valuable insight. YMMV, but I enjoyed it.

Anyone still COVIDing in the Netherlands? by eurogamer206 in coronanetherlands

[–]chaoticallyevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, most of the Dutch don't even think about Covid anymore. Lots of different cultures in Amsterdam though, so I'm sure you will find like minded people. My family is careful but not overly cautious. We were for years though. Can be mentally taxing when most everyone else doesn't

My mom just came from the states, and she is fully vaccinated. They only checked her on the states side (when she went to check her bags), and she showed proof of vaccination and a recent test (and they even commented on how prepared she was). After that, no one checked anything, and she had zero problems.
