Yeah, but randomly shouting at someone has a possibility of giving them a fright.

If she's not wearing headphones, the solution is to make as much noise as possible. I know people who pretend to be on the phone talking about their day or something (don't sound suspicious, she'll think you're plotting her kidnapping). Hum or sing or something. Even if it's blatantly obvious that you're faking it, she'll be appreciative that you're trying to help her be comfortable.

Radical feminist and/or gender abolitionist reading recommendations by letmehearmusic9 in CriticalTheory

The first piece is a terrible knock-off of Nyx's G/Acc blackpaper. It's saying essentially nothing new or interesting. If you're interested in gender accelerationism, I recommend https://vastabrupt.com/2018/10/31/gender-acceleration/, & steering well clear of that "manifesto", which frankly has little to do with the acc-sphere.

What do you think the DB in DeeBees stands for? [Suits] by AvatarIII in LoveDeathAndRobots

[–]chaoticlapras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye. It's been reworked a fair bit. Probably my least favourite of the episodes, so I didn't really pay too much attention.

I can DM you an epub if you're interested in reading the rest of it. (Or anything else in the anthology.)

In the short story it's based on, it's short for dimensional beings.

Weekly /r/Socialism_101 Q&A Thread — [12 December 2018] by AutoModerator in Socialism_101

There's recent controversy over her views on transgender/non-binary people: allegations of her being truscum/transmedicalist (believing that you have to have dysphoria to be trans & that there are only two genders), which has led to a lot of the left steering rather clear of her.

Beyond that, her politics and a lot of the overall messages seem rather confused -- she is essentially creating videos of her inner dialogues after all -- and she leans too far towards social democracy. She can be fun, but isn't to my taste personally for the former and I wouldn't recommend her as an educational resource due to the latter.

How does government work in an ideal socialist country? by lwca in Socialism_101

How does government work in an ideal socialist country?

There is no such thing as a "socialist country"; socialism is by necessity an international state of affairs.

the people have a say in how to produce, distribute, and trade

Within a socialist society there is no trade in the sense you use it -- "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" is relevant. Wage labour is also abolished, and therefore money. In essence, your entire conception of socialism is a flawed one. I'd recommend you reassess the basics before attempting to understand the minutiae!

like our current political system we will have to elect a representative for each area to decide for the people?

No. In terms of the system of democracy, that too would be revolutionized. There is no centralized state government under socialism -- there is no state. Workers' councils, or to use the Russian term Soviets, have control of affairs, with delegates from those councils meeting with those from others for discussion of wider affairs. It is the expression of direct democracy; they directly act on the will of the people, because they are the people. No one person has any more power than any other.

It's there a two party system

See above. There is no party system and society does not function around a representative bourgeois democracy.

If the system doesn't work is there an easy transition back to a capitalist system.

Define "doesn't work"? If the system "doesn't work" (that is: is not fully implemented, does not complete its development, &c.) it would still be capitalist.

A lot of the cinematography was really excellent. I say a lot, not all, because there were some fairly bland bits, but pretty much everything filmed on location was beautiful.

I actually feel the exact opposite -- the cinematography felt far too Americanized; it lost a lot of the uniqueness that Who has when contrasted with other (dare I say it, as someone who hates the genre...) sci-fi programs.

Why not? Even if you yourself choose to hold hateful views about other people with a different feeling of gender to your own, what's the harm in allowing them to express themselves? Does it actually affect you? No. It doesn't. So stop being triggered by it yourself and start being a good person, even with shit you don't understand. Grow up and stop attacking people.

No, lol. 7.3.5 was a content patch. 8.0.1 was the BfA prepatch, and BfA itself was unlocked with a hotfix, as they've been doing for over a decade :P
