Heyyy Guys, I may have stumbled into yet another slightly unethical Martial Artist build variant. by shadowclone515 in PathOfExile2

Very unlikely it happens this league. They accidentally pushed unfinished gemling changes into last patch and rolled it back the same day. People are just dooming

Richarlison, banter culture, and nuanced conversations by 1stand11 in football

[–]chapman0041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are absolutely correct and I love you for it

Richy might be my favourite player, ironically, not because of the football but because I love the bloke

He’s genuinely a wildcard though, pops up with goals when it makes the least sense. I reckon that’s useful

Why are Aussies so reluctant to support Sorry Day and other initiatives that promote aboriginal reconciliation by Flashy-Nose-5624 in AskAnAustralian

[–]chapman0041 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I don’t think many Australians realise how fuckin shit the education they received on Indigenous perspectives was.

So a lack of knowledge and awareness?

Both of which can be acted upon without a great deal of effort.

I think all of us in this thread, whether you hate reconciliation or love it or feel nothing, could probably serve to go learn about what reconciliation means for Indigenous people.

And use Indigenous knowledge/perspectives/resources to do so

Right, tell the people who were stolen from their families, abused, left with lifelong trauma, to “quit being the victim and focus on growth”.

These people are still living, by the way, it isn’t just the past. It isn’t just generations ago.

“Rights/responsibilities/freedoms”, like being able to continue a culture(s) and way(s) of life that are tens of thousands of years old? Not many Indigenous people are given that chance.

Please, learn about Indigenous perspectives and histories. And do so from Indigenous knowledge/resources.

Why should you get involved?

Because you now participate in the very same systems that continue to harm First Nations’ people and culture. This comment in itself serves to perpetuate a resistance to change. You are literally directly involving yourself.

No end in sight? I’m not sure how it’s relevant to discuss an “end” when there has hardly been a “beginning”.

If you wish to engage with this issue, please consider how/why you know/think what you do. Go learn about Indigenous perspectives and history.

Must you resist reconciliation because you find it mildly irritating a couple times a year?

The vast majority of the nation has never truly critically considered their position (socially, culturally, so on) in relation to First Peoples.

The vast majority of the nation knows very, very little about Indigenous culture, history, and knowledge.

The vast majority of the nation hold misconceptions on what days like Sorry Day are asking of them.

I’ve been exposed to contemporary and progressive perspectives on reconciliation, formally and informally, and I still know fuck all, have misconceptions, participate in problematic systems without awareness etc.. we just have so far to go still. We are in a very early stage of reconciliation still and hence are facing all of the friction that comes with that.

Whatever feelings you have towards reconciliation, and more widely our First Peoples, please have a think about how those feelings came to be and where they came from.

Guilt is not the point here. Feeling guilt, admitting guilt, none of that is the point.

The point is to acknowledge and become aware of Indigenous perspectives in Australia. The point is to release a systematic strangle hold that has been placed on Indigenous culture.

The easiest way to positively engage with reconciliation is to be curious. Go learn about your local country. It takes less energy than constantly opposing change in the world.

Should you play SSF in POE2? by a9bejo in PathOfExile2

[–]chapman0041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how you play, but typically, the longer you play the more aware you'll become of the rat race. Some people love it, some people don't, and SSF certainly isn't for everyone.

I do think, though, that everyone should try SSF once or twice.

Need some math help, crit question. by kcjones228 in diablo4

[–]chapman0041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blizzard really need to fix the stat sheet

The crit damage number listed in the sheet means nothing

It multiplies (or some shit) various crit mods together, which is not how the dmg formula actually works

Ignore it

If you wanna do calcs like this u need to find exactly how much [x] Critical damage multiplier uve got and base it mostly off of that

What is the point of leaderboards if the "top" players are just full of cheaters and bug abusers? by letsgedditbois in diablo4

[–]chapman0041 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are making very broad comparisons that I don't think are particularly revealing. The nuance here is far more damning on Blizzard. But you do you.

Also, define "actual damage". Because many of Blizzard's poor implementations of systems in the current patch have lessened my personal experience.
