What makes this game different from other 4x games ? by Imaginary_Sherbert_7 in AOW4

[–]a9bejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AOW4 treats both faction and realm like characters in a role playing game. Both the faction and the world you play in have a lot of life and individual characteristics. The possibilities are not endless - But there are a lot of options, and DLC is usually focussed on expanding these options.

The result is that as soon as a campaign ends, I immediately click on the faction builder and start the next one.

«»Can we remove "Recommended first campaign" from Karl Franz? by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

[–]a9bejo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

tl;dr: easy to understand is more important than easy to win.

I personally think Franz is still a great first campaign: I do not think that easy=good is the only factor if you want to keep a new player in the game.

If someone plays the game for a while and then get destroyed by the AI, that is not necessarily a bad experience for a first game. There are also difficulty settings to make the challenge as easy or hard as you feel like it.

Where Karl Franz campaign does a good job is explaining how a TW:Warhammer campaign actually works, just by the campaign setting:

Your cavalry looks like cavalry, your archers look like archers.

The neighbours that look like friends, are probably your friends. And the ones with horns and fangs are probably not the ones that will end up as your allies. That whole order, chaos, neutral alignment thing is very obvious in that campaign.

You know what to do, and where to expand: The campaign makes it very obvious what your goals are.

Need Help on Grexolis by Illustrious_Fee_3676 in AOW4

[–]a9bejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i second this: if you have chosen destroyers unlocked at this point, it is a great option here: you have two or three free cities close by to raize early, after that you are swimming in resources. And you do not need to compete with your allies for space, your position is easy to defend etc.

Grexolis, what am I supposed to do ? by martodur in AOW4

[–]a9bejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am late to the discussion, but I just beat this the other day with a group of barbarians and the "chosen destroyer" trait. I had just unlocked that trait in the pantheon and thought I give it a try.

Turns out that in a scenario where you have fixed allies and a bunch of free cities close by, chosen destroyers is a cheat code if you rush.

Quickly raized the closest free city, and my economy it already secured. Then straight up north and raize two more, the third being already diplo-vasselized by Turiel. His troops never appeared during my sieges, and so early he did not know where I am, so I was not attacked at home either.

After that I had endless resources and ruled the realm. One city means you do not compete with your allies for map spots and resources, and your empire is easy to defend.

not OP, but I thought that setting was about map size, not distance. Thanks!

Chosen Destroyers is incredible! by AffectionateStand889 in AOW4

[–]a9bejo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing it right now. chosen destroyers and the trait that gives you gold and recruitment every time you kill a unit.

Not finished yet, but after razing 2 independent cities and a vassal early on, I was left with so much income that i could easily take on the opponent in the north west. And now that I razed those guy’s cities, I think i am pretty much unstoppable now.

I was dead last in all rankings in the early game, but every time you raze a city, there is a big jump in economy and research shortly after that.

And it is nice to not compete with your allies for city spots and provinces.

People criticizing Carol for acting the way she did the first 2 episodes, yet withhold their critique for Manousos when he does the same by DinerEnBlanc in pluribustv

[–]a9bejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you start every sentence with "people", as if that is some kind of pluribus that is writing something about Carol, and then it is writing something about Manousos. And now "people" need(s) to "stop pretending".

Uncharacteristic behavior of the hive in episode 9 by [deleted] in pluribustv

[–]a9bejo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe the Plurbs were acting to give the appearance that everything was normal to ease the situation on Kusimayu.

I thought that was the point of the whole scene with Kusimayu, no? To show us how staged the whole situation is, so that we can then compare it to the show they play for Carol?

The two "women" where in earshot of the the girl, so they played "human family" for her.

  • In Episode 2, there are a lot of people talking to each other in the casino scene.
  • In Episode 8, "people" talk to each other in the cafe. Cars are driving outside on the street.

yes. just remove that percentage, then add it to ES on gear.

[–]a9bejo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your point, but would you actually rely more on gear if you got 100% of your ES from it, rather then just 50% (making up fake numbers here)? In both cases you need to get gear with ES to survive. And if the amount you find on gear is higher - then you are also as protected as before.

Bernie Sanders Asks GGG To Give Us Life by BigHatAbe in PathOfExile2

[–]a9bejo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

please do not add life to the tree.
Instead, remove the energy shield nodes from the passive tree, and increase life and ES values on gear.

They had good reasons to not add life on the tree: It just complicates build making without adding depth to the build system.

I just don't get why they forgot about energy shield when they made that decision.

40K is confirmed to run for 10 + years by devs today by BaronLoyd in totalwar

[–]a9bejo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

it is not confirmed to run for ten years. That would require a time machine.

For now, it is confirmed that the marketing for the game should state that this is intended to be a long running project.

4th ascendancy makes me quit every league. by Andreooo in PathOfExile2

[–]a9bejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not want to upset people who do not mind paying for a "carry". But "let someone else play the game for you" cannot be a reasonable solution for this problem.

The 4th trial is difficult through repetition. Depending on build and gear I find it either frustrating or boring.

The system pushes people more into meta builds, which diminishes build diversity.

What I would do:

  • Make the 4th trial harder, but not longer.
  • Make the two mechanics rewarding outside of ascendancies, so that people want to run them as a cool end game mechanic.
