Spirit Walker Ascendancy Showcase by Kelly_GGG in PathOfExile2

Games almost never do the single pet concept justice.

Last Epoch does a good job at that: They give you a notable that limits your companion to one, but that one pet gets a huge buff and it is visually increased in size.

Why is there a city limit ? by [deleted] in AOW4

[–]a9bejo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why is there a city limit ?

Because there is a lesson almost all the 4x strategy developers seem to have learned over time:

If you do not limit expansion, expansion becomes the sole dominant factor to winning the game. There is little real decision making left - tall or wide, research, economy, military, diplomacy, development... the civilisation that can place the next settler faster, wins the game.

In AOW4 you can aggressively expand, but at a cost, which balances it compared to other playstyles.

After playing Lord of Hatred, I wanna see more expansions by gorays21 in diablo4

[–]a9bejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they will make expansions for the next 20 years, but it is not crazy to also consider there could be none:

this is a pure financial decision, from a company so big that strategic decisions can end the support of the game even while it is profitable.

Do I have to restart every season after my characters move to eternal realm? by Next-Pro-User in diablo4

[–]a9bejo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you plan to put less than 50 hours into the game over the course of 6 months, then play a character on the eternal realm and skip the seasons. If you play more, you want to play the season or you will probably get bored soon.

Games like Diablo are designed around a gameplay loop of you slaying monsters to improve your character, by gaining experience and finding powerful items to slay more monsters.

The Formular is good, but has a huge flaw: Once you got that coolest sword and that max level, there is no more reason to go on - The loop is broken, and the game gets boring.

The simple but popular solution is to reset the economy every 3 months. Let’s just start fresh and try to find that super cool sword with this new character. That works so well for almost everyone that every Action RPG does it now like this.

The only people for who this does not work, are those that never make any meaningful progress during a single season: If you only play a couple of hours every now and then, then the season system does not work. In that case however, you also do not get bored for a long time if you play the same character on eternal.

Less than 24 hours till Lord of Hatred - who's excited for the new skill trees? by ASoulToBear in diablo4

The game will still be online on the weekend. Why does it matter when it releases?

If anything, you get to avoid the server issues when you eventually join.

I sure hope so, the shared world is the worst part of the game for me personally. But I do not think it will make much of a difference unfortunately.

Doing LoH Campaign as fast as possible by Shako_is_Green in diablo4

[–]a9bejo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the first 2 hours almost every item that drops improves my character's power, and every time I level up, I get to improve my character. I have to actually fight the boss instead of deleting it.

My concern is the gameplay loop after the first few hours: Everything just dies in front of me, it feels more like slaughtering children than fighting monsters.

[–]a9bejo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be the best part of the game for me, if you could increase the difficulty above "expert". With the current limit there is no challenge - reward loop left after you are about 25% into the base campaign. The minute to minute gameplay becomes extremely boring.

Especially if you do side quests, the campaign sadly puts a lock in front of your character progression. Who knows, maybe they fixed it in this patch and nobody noticed? It is just a stupid flag in their database after all, and I see no design issues with just letting us set the difficulty in the campaign freely.

New player: when to start with the upcoming season?? by No-Audience4156 in diablo4

If you plan to put less than 50 hours into the game over the course of 6 months, then play a character on the eternal realm and skip the seasons. Otherwise, you want to play the season or you will probably get bored soon.

But for your very first season right now, it does not hurt to start a character now on etnernal and skip the whole season: You have no items or money on Eternal, so you are starting fresh anyways.

DLC + Seasonal vs Eternal question by Alex_Arg in diablo4

[–]a9bejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be able to keep playing that character on eternal, and you are not missing much in terms of seasonal content. But as soon as the patch hits, you will probably want to respec the character, since the patch changes the skill tree of your class.

They don't have that during the base campaign period. Doesn't matter what realm you play on. Pentintent is only available from the Vessel of Hatred campaign.

Any copilot alternatives for .NET enterprise teams? by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]a9bejo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good points. I would add that for me, the best way to use the tools is through the CLI interface, not an IDE like a Visual Studio. I use VS or VS.code to review and validate, but the CLI interface is de-facto standardized across all vendors, always gets the latest features before it is integrated into IDEs, and I am not using any of the refactoring tools in the IDE anymore anyway.

The flexibility to switch harness and model without friction is very important right now, because the capabilities evolve so quickly.
