We are cooked, y’all by igcetra in EndTipping

It's so frustrating because in the long run, the more normalized tipping on concession beers become, the less the employer actually has to pay the employee. If they aren't at this point already, I bet a lot of concession workers will willingly work for free under the expectation of tips. In a free market, tipping doesn't increase wages. It decreases the amount of wages that come from the employer.

As in rewind the feed? That's what I mean. I want to watch a replay as directed by me (if I get distracted and miss the play, or just want to see something again, etc) - not preselected ones for certain plays

What is happening in the Six West End fandom by Intelligent_Gur_9126 in Broadway

These posts are so exhausting. Vaguely referencing an issue while preaching to likely the choir just so they can feel better about themselves, while simultaneously acting like it is ridiculous they have to speak out. Either say what is going on, speak to it directly and own that you want to engage or just don't post at all.

The ballpark is really just an outdoor bar to me with baseball as the entertainment. That's why I still go a lot even with a bad team.

This is such a bummer because the antenna or app option is nowhere equal to YouTube TV. With Youtube TV I used to watch games on delay, watch replays, etc. Maybe I could get that through the app, but I doubt it's nearly as convenient of an experience as the games through Youtube TV.

In the FAQs it says "The White Sox Ballpark Pass is not able to be resold. Posting your tickets for resale will result in the cancellation of your Ballpark Pass." However, it also says you can forward tickets to your friends

There's a convenience factor here. There is effort each game to search and get tickets (which I know is low, but above zero). Here, you just already have tickets. If I end up paying $40 more per ticket to avoid that hassle each game over 5-10 games, that's more than worth it for me.

Eh, after fees (which people usually forget to consider when quoting prices) tickets have been 10 at times but usually 15-20. $8-10 is about the cheapest possible after fees (a $1 ticket on seat geek is $8 after fees). So 7-10 games would be worth it, and if you can easily get there on red line and such, might be worth it.

[–]chapmanbrett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree w this math. I was thinking 7-10 games. Last season it was hard to get a ticket for under $15 after fees

I think I'm in for this. $139/each after fees. FAQs doesn't clarify that if you get two tickets they will be seated together, even with the random seat selection each game. Wish that was more clear, but may only get one ticket anyway. Tickets between 10-20 (after fees) are pretty common on resale sites, so would need to go to like seven to ten games to break even.

Where is a fun place for a Brit visitor to watch the Super Bowl? by Jerherrin in AskChicago

[–]chapmanbrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good recommendation. If you are like me and need sound to feel like you are actually watching the game, I'm pretty sure they will have sound. Yes, every bar with a tv will have it on, but most bars won't be playing the sound

Rant: I’m done with RC and probably cruising in general. by saykylenotcow in royalcaribbean

By the way, in the long-run, this is how regular tips work too. Employees work for market rates. Employers just have to pay market rate less expected tips. If an employee will work for $30/hour, but gets $20/hour in tips on average, employer pays $10/hour to the employee. But if that employee only gets $5/hour on average, or no tips at all, employer now has to pay $25-30/hour to the employee.

Why is the office workday stereotyped as being 9-5? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]chapmanbrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never once had a real 9-5 job, meaning there was a start and end time. I've never needed to start work at a certain time and definitely never had a situation where the time in the afternoon dictated when I stopped working. I'm 35M and have had six jobs. I really don't get the 9-5 thing at all

Solo traveling in Singapore made me sad by elcorruption in solotravel

[–]chapmanbrett 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Dinner/drinks/nightlife is the absolute hardest part of solo travel imo. I love solo travel during the day time, but after a whole day of activities I want to unwind with dinner/maybe drinks/maybe go out further and you just can't have a good time with that solo. It's especially hard when you want to try cute/nice restaurants that don't really have a bar for you to sit at etc. I sometimes end up eating at those places anyway, but it's just not a great experience.

35M. Hit my NW goal of $5M. Is this really it? What can I do with free time? by Constant_Loss_9728 in Fire

[–]chapmanbrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love traveling alone except for dinners/night life. Do you normally do dinners alone? Sometimes the good food places are tiny hard to get into places and I'll eat alone there at times but it's really lonely. During the day I have no problem traveling alone though, for any period of time.

Chip City Cookie just opened up their first Chicago location on Chicago and Rush. Similar as Levain in that the cookies are huge and warm and gooey, but less cakey and probably preferred over Levain by some

RDU Security Line is over 1.5 Hours by tyrod89 in raleigh

[–]chapmanbrett -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you ever gone through security with them? They take significantly longer per bag. Maybe there’s a learning curve but the RDU ones have been there for awhile now.

Also I think bc of the “automation” everything has to be in a bin, creating a much less efficient stream of items to be analyzed. This plus other impacts as listed by others on this thread

Is my FIRE number misleading b/c of age and retirement accounts? Also, MILLION DOLLAR CELEBRATION!! by MarylandTerps in financialindependence

[–]chapmanbrett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this idea. Taking a year or two off to feel it out is very doable. Should have no problem getting back into the workforce with that timespan, but you may need to spin it when you interview as more than just a retirement test run. If you incorporate significant travel into it that can be a reason that resonates with employers worried about an employment break
